I actually watched three dramas to round out the year!  I got in the zany comedy Gaus Electronics, the rom-com Love in Contract, and the friends-to-lovers romance Soundtrack #1 in December. Here’s how it went:

Gaus Electronics Korean Drama - Kwak Dong Yeon and Go Sung HeeGaus Electronics

Gaus Electronics is a comedy drama that was quite a bit of fun. It’s a silly show that focuses heavily on the comedic aspects with lots of quirky characters getting involved in crazy situations. I love this sort of over-the-top zany style.

The drama does have several basic plots as well a nice little romance to enjoy between Kwak Dong Yeon and Go Sung Hee. Both gave great performances and were hilarious. We also had a wonderful supporting cast.

Gaus Electronics was very enjoyable overall. It’s all very silly, but I liked the zany comedy and feel good nature of the drama. This is the kind of show where you just relax and don’t take it too seriously, and that made for a very good time. (Gaus Electronics Review)

Love in Contract

Love in Contract is a very entertaining drama that I enjoyed quite well. It has well-developed characters and a decent back story. There were always new plot developments and things going on which made for a great pace.

It was an interesting mixture of genres with the first half leaning towards being a romantic comedy while the second half became sort of a light chaebol melo. There was a nice amount of humor, angst and romance.

Park Min Young had great chemistry with Go Kyung Pyo, and they had an adorably awkward romance. There was a great cast of supporting character that I enjoyed too. All in all, it was a good watch. (Love in Contract Review)

Soundtrack #1 Korean Drama - Park Hyung Sik and Han So HeeSoundtrack #1

Soundtrack #1 is a short 4 episode drama that was a decent watch. It’s very basic as we get a straightforward friends-to-lovers story. The drama has a sort of melancholy tone but is pretty light overall. It also has a more realistic, slice of life feel to it.

Both Sun Woo and Eun Soo begin to explore their feelings for each other and what their relationship means too them. We didn’t have as much time as I would have liked to go really deep with the characters, but overall, the drama did well with the time it had, and it was a sweet little romance. (Soundtrack #1 Review)

So how was December for you?

Happy drama watching to everyone!

Kay – thanks for the blurb on Gaus Electronics! This sounds like it is for me and is going on my list. Here is hoping it is like Pegasus Market which I really loved.

It is such a fun drama! Very silly and positive. Similar to Eulachacha Waikiki and Modern Farmer style comedy if you’ve seen either of those. I have Pegasus Market on my watch list as it looks like its in the same vein as those 🙂

Kay – Jung Hye Sung is the FL in Pegasus Market and she is my favorite comedic actress in KDrama world. She was great in this! I have been waiting for the longest time for someone to write a great comedy featuring her as the lead.

Jung Hye Sung is hilarious! I have no doubt she was great in the drama. It’s great that a comedy came along to really highlight her talents 🙂

Dramas I finished in December 2022 (all are rewatches):

    The Princess’s Man – a classic!
30 but 17 – my go-to feel good drama! My favorite role of Shin Hye Sun so far.
Live Up To Your Name – made me want to try acupuncture!
All of Us Are Dead – a future classic!

Oooh, 30 But 17 is definitely a feel good drama! One of my favorites 🙂 And The Princess’ Man is for sure a classic.

I haven’t seen Live Up to Your Name and All of Us Are Dead, but I hear mostly positive things about them, so I’m glad you were able to enjoy your re-watches of them 🙂

    Watched in December:

Curtain Call – not as good as I had hoped based on the cast but an ok watch.

My First Love (not to be confused with My First First Love) – time travel romance, short 10 episodes, enjoyed more than I expected.

Summer Strike – another short one (12 50-minute episodes) and another pleasant surprise. I was expecting bucolic small town romance which it seemed to start out as but so much more going on beneath the surface. Fairly good and entertaining watch.

Dropped Gaus Electronics and Melo Is My Nature – neither of those grabbed me enough to stick with them.

Currently Watching The Forbidden Marriage and Alchemy of Souls – both excellent!

A nice December! I’m interested in Curtain Call and Summer Strike. Both sound promising. Loved My First Love!

Too bad Gaus Electronics and Melo is My Nature didn’t work for you.

I’m super excited for Alchemy of Souls 2. Glad you’re enjoying it. Keep me updated on The Forbidden Marriage as that’s one I’m still considering 🙂
