Gaus Electronics is about a troublesome office worker (Kwak Dong Yeon) in the marketing department of an electronics company who is always at the center of conflicts and causes difficulties for his assistant manager (Go Sung Hee).

Kwak Dong Yeon plays Lee Sang Sik who works in the marketing department of Gaus Electronics.  He tends to make a lot of mistakes and cause trouble, but he is very kind-hearted and dedicated to his job.

Go Sung Hee is Cha Na Rae who is an assistant manager in the marketing department. She gets easily annoyed by her job and co-workers, particularly Sang Sik. Her dislike for him is strong…that is until feelings unexpectedly develop.

We also have Baek Ma Tan (Bae Hyun Sung) who is the heir to Power Group, a rival of Gaus Electronics. Out of the blue, he decides to get a job at Gaus Electronics to experience life on his own. Next is Gun Kang Mi (Kang Min Ah) who is another worker that is strong and independent. She ends up helping Ma Tan adjust to the life of an average worker.

Gaus Electronics is a comedy drama that was quite a bit of fun. It’s a silly show that focuses heavily on the comedic aspects with lots of quirky characters getting involved in crazy situations. I love this sort of over-the-top zany style.

It did take a couple of episodes to warm up to the drama. The first episode was almost too over-the-top for even me, but things settle down a bit, and it finds a nice groove after that. Then I was able to get got on board with the set up and the characters. The drama got funnier as it went as it was able to really develop the quirkiness of the characters as well as build up running jokes.

The drama does have a several basic plots going including relationships, character journeys, and the overall antics of the marketing team as they try to succeed. It added a nice structure for all of the comedy.

We even get a nice little romance to enjoy between Sang Sik and Na Rae. Much of it is quite silly as both characters are over-the-top, but in the midst of all of the craziness was actually a pretty cute romance that I really liked.

Kwak Dong Yeon is a favorite of mine, and this role was perfect for him. I was introduced to him many years ago through the zany comedy Modern Farmer, and this drama is definitely in the same vein. I loved seeing him get to be so funny again, and he made me laugh many times.

I also really liked Go Sung Hee here. I hadn’t seen her is such a heavy comedic role, and I think comedy suits her so well. Her expressions are fantastic as is her timing. She had a great humorous chemistry with Kwak Dong Yeon.

Our second leads were a lot of fun too. Ma Tan was hilarious as we watch him be terrible at acting like an average person as well as trying to adjust. His interactions with Kang Mi were always humorous, and I found them both to be very funny.

The supporting cast consisted of the other office workers as well as Sang Sik’s roommate. All of them were entertaining in their own way with their own quirks and little story arcs to help round out the drama. A wonderful ensemble.

Although this is very much a comedy drama, I did want to give an extra shout out to it for the writing and planning. There’s actually a very nicely executed and fun twist that is revealed near the end of the drama that definitely surprised me. It answered some questions I had in such a funny way. So, kudos to the drama for having an unexpected twist!

Gaus Electronics was such a fun drama. It’s all very silly, but I liked the zany comedy and feel good nature of the drama. All of the actors gave great performances that brought their quirky characters to life. This is the kind of drama where you just relax and don’t take it too seriously, and that made for a very good time.

My Rating: 8/10

This was an actual, proper comedy and not really all that OTT, save perhaps for the first epi or so. Yup, I enjoyd this one quite a bit. Kwak Dong Yeon is a treasure, it’s a travesty that he’s not had more lead roles yet. Boy sure can act! He also has an impeccable comic timing and he is cute… well, manly and cute, ha.

I’m so glad you enjoyed this one too! Yes, it is a proper comedy, and we seriously don’t get enough of those in dramaland. So this was such a breath of fresh air for me 🙂

And I completely agree! Kwak Dong Yeon is a treasure, and I love him to pieces! It really is too bad he hasn’t had more lead roles with so much talent versatility. I’m glad he’s been in a lot of big dramas in recent years though. He does dramatic so well, but his comedic talents are what first introduced me to him, so I think I’ll always have a soft spot for him in comedies 🙂

I’ll give this one a try. I don’t believe I’ve seen a comedy Korean show.

We don’t get a lot of kdramas that I would give a full blown comedy label. Lots of rom-coms out there, but not so much the heavy comedy. This one does have a nice little romance too though. First ep is a little over the top, but you’ll probably know with a few eps if you like this kind of silly comedy show. Good luck!

It’s such a fun show! Reminds of Eulachacha Waikiki type comedy, so very silly and zany. I hope you like it 🙂

Gaus Electronics was one of my favourite dramas from 2022 for sure. It made me laugh, it made my heart flutter and overall made me feel good. Also, the theme song is living in my head rentfree.

I really enjoyed this show. One of the best I’ve seen this year. As already said the first episode was really too much but fortunately the rest were great. So many funny scenes. Kwak Dong-Yeon and Ko Sung-Hee made a great couple and played their roles wonderfully. The second couple, Bae Hyun-Sun and Kang Min-Ah were also very good. I was pleasantly surprised by the humor provided by Lee Sang-Sik’s Indian roommate Aziz, played by Sazal Mahamud who is actually from Bangladesha and lives in Korea, speaks Korean and plays on the Korean National Cricket Team.

I agree this show was well written. The comedy, for the most part, survived the translation to English. And there was a very interesting surprise for us in the last episode.

Minor complaints: The overuse of the F bomb and other such words, especially in the first episode. Typical soft ending. Meaning we don’t get to see any commitments made and kept by the main couple. The second romantic couple romance didn’t go anywhere at all.

Wow! You watched this one fast! I’m so glad it ended up growing on you and was such a good watch 🙂 It was one of my favorites too. So hilarious!

All of the cast was great, particularly Kwak Dong Yeon, and Go Sung Hee was fantastic with him. Loved the second couple and the supporting cast, especially Aziz. It was such a surprise to see just how well written it was too (and the nice little surprise, hehe). It’s so nice when the comedy survives the translation. There were definitely some wordplays going on that didn’t always make it through, but overall, it was done really well. Such a wonderful drama 🙂
