Well, this is interesting! It looks like we may be getting a Korean drama remake of the American series Designated Survivor which starred Kiefer Sutherland. It told the story of a politician who was the “designated survivor” and unexpectedly becomes president after a an explosion kills everyone else in the line of succession.
I think this story would be great for a kdrama adaptation. I really enjoyed the first season of the American series and think it would do well in the kdrama one season format. It would also be interesting to see the differences in the two political systems and how that would affect the story. The original had plenty of tension with excitement and twists, so it would be fun to see the Korean take on it.
The Designated Survivor remake is reportedly in talks to air on tvN.

Yes! I really hope this all comes together since I think this series is perfect for a kdrama remake. I’m anxious to see their take on it and who will take on Kiefer Sutherland’s role 🙂

Last year and this year must be the years for remakes. Here’s another remake. I have not watched any remakes at all. Maybe this could be the first one provided it will actually be good with awesome cast.

It really is crazy how many remakes they are doing these days. I haven’t seen any of the American remakes either since they all leaned towards being procedurals plus their lack of availability. Designated Survivor was serialized though, and I really enjoyed it, so I’m looking forward to this remake. They definitely need a solid lead and supporting cast. I’m excited for the possibilities though 🙂
