Moon Lovers Korean Drama - Lee Joon Gi and IU

Finally!  The new SBS drama Moon Lovers has secured it’s main leads with Lee Joon Gi (Scholar Who Walks the Night) and IU (Producer) confirming they will star in it.  It seems like it’s taken forever to finalize the cast, but I’m glad they finally have!  Moon Lovers is a remake of the popular Chinese drama Scarlet Heart (Bu Bu Jin Xin).

Lee Joon Gi is set to play the main role of the 4th prince whose character is cold and calculating.  IU will play the spunky young lady who travels back in time and gets involved with all of the princes.

Well, I am beyond thrilled about the casting news.  Yes, I would have loved to have seen Lee Joon Gi take on a modern role, but I know he will be outstanding in this.  It’s his first time playing royalty, and I can’t wait to see him dawn some of those gorgeous Goryeo era costumes.

Although I’m neutral when it comes to IU, I actually think she will look great paired with Lee Joon Gi.  She also has plenty of cute and spunkiness to share with all of those princes.

Ji Soo (Sassy Go Go) was also recently confirmed to play the 14th prince who had a very different childhood from the rest of his brothers.  He received a lot of love and will be very fun and likable.

The first script reading is for January 8, and the drama will be completely pre-produced.

Moon Lovers tells the story of a modern day woman who travels back in time to the Goryeo era and gets romantically involved with several princes.

Moon Lovers will premiere in the latter half of 2016.
