Bubblegum Korean Drama - Lee Dong Wook and Jung Ryeo Won

Here is the November edition of “Korean Dramas You Need to Be Watching.”  This monthly series is meant to keep you updated on what’s happening in the world of Korean dramas so that you don’t miss out on anything!  November has several new dramas to choose from to go along with the many that premiered last month.

Here are the kdramas you need to keep an eye out for in November 2015:

Oh My Venus

Oh My Venus Korean Drama - So Ji Sub and Shin Min Ah

Oh My Venus marks the highly anticipated return of Shin Min Ah to dramaland, and she is paired with fan favorite So Ji Sub as her leading man.  The premise sounds like She Was Pretty meets Birth of a Beauty.  I know I’m excited for the drama, and I really hope it delivers.

Oh My Venus is a romantic comedy centering around two people who go on a journey to find love and health together.  Kang Joo Eun (Shin Min Ah), was once beautiful and popular in the past, but is now unfit and unattractive.  Joo Eun is now working to regain her figure with the help of a famous health trainer, Kim Young Ho, played by So Ji Sub.  Our couple will work to heal their past hurts while journeying through weight loss together.

Oh My Venus premieres November 16 on KBS.

Imaginary Cat

Imagine Cate - Yoo Seung Ho

Imaginary Cat is based on a popular webtoon and tells the story of Hyun Jong Hyun (Yoo Seung Ho) who works part time at a bookstore and is also a webtoon artist.  His self-centered personality creates problems in his life, and his only source of comfort is his pet cat who gives humorous commentary on his life.

Imaginary Cat premieres November  24 on MBC Every1.

Reply 1988

Reply 1988 Korean Drama - Park Bo Gum, Go Kyung Pyo, Hye Ri

Reply 1988 is the third installment in the popular Reply series.  It tells the story of five families who live on the same road in 1988.

Reply 1988 premieres November 6 on tvN.

Madame Antoine

Madame Antoine Korean Drama - Han Ye Seul and Sung Joon

Madame Antoine tells the story of a fake fortune teller (Han Ye Seul) who has the ability to read other people’s feelings and a top psychologist (Sung Joon) who is amazing at his job, but is insensitive to love.  The two will be involved in a “psychological game” with each other as they fall in love.

Madame Antoine premieres in February on JTBC.  (Update: The original release date was November 27, but it has since been pushed back until February)

Sweet Savage Family

Sweet Savage Family Korean Drama

Sweet Family is based off of the popular Marrying the Mafia films and tells the story of a mob boss (Jung Jun Ho) leading a double life as the head of a crime organization and the caring leader of his family.  Moon Jung Hee will portray his wife, and Jung Woong In will be our leading man’s main rival within the organization.

Sweet Savage Family premieres November 18 on MBC.

Bubblegum

Bubblegum Korean Drama - Lee Dong Wook and Jung Ryeo Won

Bubblegum is about a doctor named Park Ri Hwan (Lee Dong Wook) who puts the needs of others first including his mother and the heroine.  Kim Haeng Ah (Jung Ryeo Won) is our leading lady who is a radio DJ dealing with some painful emotions.  The two long time friends decide to give being a couple a chance which introduces a completely new dynamic to their relationship.

Bubblegum airs Monday and Tuesday on tvN.

The Village: Secret of Achiara

The Village: Secret of Achiara Korean Drama - Moon Geun Young

The Village: Secret of Achiara is about a quiet village that is turned upside down when a mysterious corpse is discovered.  Leading lady Moon Geun Young portrays a language instructor who is investigating the corpse, and Yook Sung Jae plays a good natured policeman.  Can they figure out who the killer is?

The Village: Secret of Achiara airs Wednesday and Thursday on SBS.

Six Flying Dragons

Six Flying Dragons Korean Drama - Yoo Ah In

Six Flying Dragons is a historical about the people who were a part of the founding of the Joseon dynasty.  Yoo Ah In will be playing Prince Lee Bang Won and Shin Se Kyung will portray his love interest Boon Yi.  Kim Myung Min will play a character named Jung Do Jun who is at odds politically with Lee Bang Won.

Six Flying Dragons airs Monday and Tuesday on SBS.

Master of Trade: Inn 2015

Master of Trade: Inn 2015 Korean Drama - Jang Hyuk

Master of Trade: Inn 2015 (also called Master of Commerce: Gaekju 2015) stars Jang Hyuk, Han Chae Ah, Yoo Oh Sung, and Lee Deok Hwa.  The drama tells the story of an innkeeper (Jang Hyuk) who rises up to become one of the most successful merchants in the land.

Master of Trade: Inn 2015 airs Wednesday & Thursday on KBS.

D-Day

D-Day Korean Drama - Kim Young Kwang

D-Day stars Kim Young Kwang, Lee Sung Yeol, and Jung So Min and tells the story of doctors and emergency workers who jump in to help after Seoul is devastated by an earthquake.

D-Day airs Friday & Saturday on JTBC.

Glamorous Temptation

lamorous Temptation Korean Drama - Choi Kang Hee

This 50 episode melodrama tells the story of a poor woman who gets involved with the wealthy world and her childhood first love who has gotten himself into some political trouble and is out for revenge.

Glamorous Temptation airs Monday and Tuesday on MBC.

High school drama Sassy Go Go (Cheer Up) will be wrapping up its run on November 10.  JTBC drama Awl is also still underway in November.

As you can see, there’s a lot happening in November!  Is it strange that I am so excited about an 8 episode cat drama?  I think not!  Yoo Seung Ho and a cat really is all you need in a drama 🙂  Of course, I’m also super ready to check out Oh My Venus with my favorite actress Shin Min Ah.  Bring on the dramas!

    I highly recommend “Awl”. First two episodes are mostly background, but well acted and intense. Can’t wait to see “Sweet Savage Family” with the stars from “Last Scandal”

      I’m glad to hear you like Awl! I like the premise and will be keeping an eye on it because it sounds like a great watch to me.

      I’m also looking forward to Sweet Savage Family. I’m hoping for some really good laughs with that one 🙂
