Korean Drama Update for February 2024

For the month of February, I enjoyed the super fun youth time travel drama Twinkling Watermelon and the time travel romance The Story of Park’s Marriage Contract.  Here’s

how it went:

Twinkling Watermelon

Twinkling Watermelon Korean Drama - Ryeoun, Choi Hyun Wook, Lee Su Chan, Oh Hee Jun, Yoon Jae Chan, Ahn Do Kyu, Seol In Ah, Shin Eun Soo

Twinkling Watermelon was a lot of things for me. It’s a unique drama with a fresh spin on the time travel genre that is filled with heart and emotion. There’s family, friendship, romance, and so many amazing relationships. It has an epic bromance as well as some nice little romances. We get excellent performances by the actors.

This drama is fun to watch and put a smile on my face so many times. It’s filled with a lot of joy and inspiration yet it also deals with some heavier subjects. It handles everything quite beautifully.

Twinkling Watermelon was such a lovely drama. It’s so nice to see a well-done time travel drama that explores interesting themes of the genre while also delivering such a wonderful story and great characters. Twinkling Watermelon is packed with heart, emotion, beautiful relationships, and a lot of fun. (Twinkling Watermelon Review)

The Story of Park’s Marriage Contract

The Story of Park’s Marriage Contract was a solid watch. There is an interesting back story concerning why Yeon Woo is transported to the future and why she meets a man who looks like her husband. The romance between Yeon Woo and Tae Ha was sweet and supportive with nice individual character journeys.

The drama did feel a bit flat at times. I definitely enjoyed the story, but I was never very emotionally invested. Luckily, it was still mostly fun with a bit of mystery and dramatics to spice things up. Despite its issues, if you like time travel romances, this one has enough going for to make for a good time. So how was February for you?

Happy drama watching to everyone!

    Kdrama update February 2024
    2 dramas finished:

Knight Flower – comedy action sageuk full of fun and social commentary. Lee Ha New is great as usual, and Lee Jong Won is a new discovery.

Healer (rewatch) – it is a classic for a reason!

Healer is definitely a classic! Always makes for a good rewatch 🙂 I have Knight Flower on my maybe list, and it sounds like it was fun 🙂

I watched a bit of this and a bit of that but nothing really stuck. So I opted out for A Will Eternal (S1), a donghua I’ve watched couple of time already and always enjoyed just as much. 😀 Then I decided to read the webnovel it’s based on, as I wanted to know how the story progresses from where the S1 of the donghua ends. My, that was a looooong one, 1314 chapters, ha. I don’t know why these webnovels always have to be so effing long. 😂

Sometimes it’s just nice to go with something you know you already love 🙂 Yeah, web novels are crazy long! I’m impressed you made it 1314 chapters! 😅

    Finished 2 dropped 1 and re-watched 3 this month.

Marry My Husband – wasn’t sure I’d want to watch this since it’s pretty much the same plot as Perfect Marriage Revenge but the cast was good so I watched and it was fairly good overall. Song Ha Yoon was amazing as the baddie and Park Min Young and Na In Woo were good together. Lee Yi Kyung was a good bad guy but I’m so used to seeing him in comedy roles it was hard to watch him be so awful.

Love Song For Illusion – I ended up really liking this. It had the feel of wanting to be something grand/epic but it wasn’t quite there but it was really good/entertaining. I liked cast and the story and the OST was lovely.

Captivating the King – dropped. I started and stopped this one a couple of times. I wanted to watch it but haven’t loved the Shin Se Kyung in most of her dramas. I usually enjoy the dramas she’s in despite her. I find her expression fairly one note. Then I heard that the plot is really convoluted so I decided against it altogether.

Rewatched Jealousy Incarnate, Another Oh Hae Young, and Shining Inheritance. Haven’t watched them in years but I thoroughly enjoyed them 2nd time round.

Marry My Husband and Love Song For Illusion are on my list, so I’m glad to hear you liked them 🙂 I do plan to check out Captivating the King too, so here’s hoping it goes better for me! lol

It’s great you enjoyed your rewatches. I have a special place in my heart for Shining Inheritance. Such a classic! 🙂
