I think that one sounds good too 🙂

I’ve got Welcome to Samdalri on the list and very hopeful as I have not loved JCW in anything for a while. I’m currently watching The Story of Park’s Contract Marriage (early days but ok so far); My Demon (early days but good so far); A Good Day to be a Dog (ok); Moon in the Day (excellent); Castaway Diva (meh); Perfect Marriage Revenge (embarassed to say I love this); The Matchmakers (good).

Welcome to Samdalri does looks promising and I like both actors. I’m also interested in The Story of Park’s Contract Marriage, A Good Day to Be a Dog, Moon in the Day, and Castaway Diva. You’ve got a solid mix going 🙂

Finished watching Strong Girl Nam Soon. I stopped watching this but want back and as I hoped what I didn’t like with this show wasn’t continued as much. The show is mainly a fantasy crime drama. Not much time given for the main character romance.

    Rating: 7

I wasn’t too sure about about Strong Girl Nam Soon. The original was pretty cute, but this one hasn’t really grabbed my attention. It’s good that things improved for you and you were able to finish it out 🙂

Just finished the first 5 (the rest not available yet) episodes of The Story of Park’s Marriage Contract. It’s pretty good so far though I hope it doesn’t take too much longer for the main couple to become mutually romantic. There are some stereotypical characters but i am enjoying the show.

    1. Kay Avatar

I’m really interested in that one as it’s the kid of story I’m typically drawn too. Love Lee Se Young too. I also prefer when the couple doesn’t take too long to take interest in each other. Hopefully, that does happen soon!

Not really interested in any of these. Perfect Marriage Conract was pretty decent as it wasn’t taking itself too seriously. Alas, I called it quits after couple of episodes, because even makjang lite was a bit too much for me, ha. Currently watching only A Journey to Love (cdrama), which so far has been better and more humorous than I expected. Would be nice if it stayed at this level of “good” till the end.

I wasn’t planning on watching Perfect Marriage Contract, but I’m hearing all of these good things recently, so I may just have to pop over and check it out. I do like my makjang in all its forms, lol. Good luck with the rest of A Journey to Love. I hope it stays strong until the end!

I just finished watching the 2023 Chinese rom/com: The Science of Falling in Love. Excellent show. Childhood friends that got seperated. Yes, a story often told but this show does an excellent job in the retelling. They both go to the same college but though he recognizes her, she doesn’t recognize him. The overall cast was great. And surprisingly some of the music that played in the background was good. There was even music from composer Raffi Cavoukian (Google him). The middle episodes did drag a bit but made up for it with a powerful emotional ending.

    1. Kay Avatar

I do enjoy the childhood friends that get separated” stories when done well. It sounds like a cute show and a plus that it delivers a good ending. Glad you enjoyed it 🙂

Just finished watching the Chinese romance Dating in the Kitchen. An excellent show. This show stands above the rest of the chef/restaurant dramas for several reasons. The main characters are a woman master chef in a upscale hotel and the CEO. This show has a lot of cooking imbedded into the first half of the show, which i enjoyed seeing, . The chef is 21 and the CEO is 36. And the ML and FL looked the age. The chemistry between them is excellent. Plenty of displays of affection. The second romance is good. Lots of hurdles for the main couple to overcome. The hurdles may be typical of many other dramas but the cast does a great job of making it all fresh and engaging. I’m not all that familiar with Chinese performers but I’ve seen the FL, Zhao Lu Si, in other shows and she is great. I highly recommend this show.

    1. Kay Avatar

You’re having some great success with the Chinese dramas recently 🙂 It’s nice that the cast was able to make a more typical set-up fresh. Frequently, that’s all it takes to make even basic plots worthwhile 🙂

I just finished watching the Korean show Young Lady and Gentleman. Well, kind of completed. This show got off to the most depressing 1st episode I’ve ever seen. Wife leaves husband and baby. Depressed husband walks into lake with baby to try to commit suicide. While the main couple romance was good each and every episode is filled with yelling, screaming and crying. Almost every scenario you have ever seen in a Kdrama is packed into the 53 1 hour spinodes. Except zombies. I gave up after episode 14. Though I did watch the last episode to see how it ended (never did that before).

    1. Kate Avatar

Ha, I suffered through all episodes and I still can’t say why. It’s gotta be one of the worst 🤣

    2. Kay Avatar

Wow, that does sound like an intense and depressing one, especially if it was enough to make you drop it. Hopefully, you’re next drama is better.
