Kiss Goblin Korean Drama - Bae In Hyuk and Jeon Hye Won

I just got in a web drama for July, but it was a good one!  It was the fantasy romance Kiss Goblin that I enjoyed this month. Here’s how it went:

Kiss Goblin Korean Drama - Bae In Hyuk and Jeon Hye WonKiss Goblin

Kiss Goblin is a short web drama that I quite liked. I was pleasantly surprised that it makes pretty good use of its short run time. The overall production quality is pretty good as is the acting. The characters are also well done with a bit of depth and a chance to explore their motivations and journeys.

I would say the main selling point is the story though. It’s an interesting twist on the goblin becoming human trope with Ban Sook’s mission of kissing humans to acquire emotions.

Being a web drama, the short length made the story developments fast and sometimes abrupt. But all in all, Kiss Goblin is very well done. It was a fun drama that I quite enjoyed. (Kiss Goblin Korean Drama Review)

So how was July for you?

Happy drama watching to everyone!

    Hi Kay,

How are you going? I have not commented for a while because I’m on a kdrama slump. Latest kdramas have not exactly worked for me which is a shame. The same this month but I thought I’d pop in and say hi. I have seen Kiss Goblin a while back and remember enjoying it.

Hi D! Good to hear from you 🙂 I’m sorry that you’re in a kdrama slump though. Those are never fun. I actually remember you mentioning you liked Kiss Goblin, and it was one of the reasons I moved it higher up on my list which eventually led me to it 🙂

I’m really glad you went ahead and said hi though because I like hearing from you even if it you’re not watching any dramas. I do hope something amazing comes along for you soon though to end that slump!

Hi Kay – ooo I’m so glad you moved up Kiss Goblin higher on your list because of what I said. 🙂 🙂 🙂 I just saw your review on Heavenly Idol. Will be reading your review soon and see if that’s my cup of tea. 🙂

I’m glad you inspired me to move it up too 🙂 I’m really hit or miss with web dramas, so I was pleased that this one was well done and I quite liked it 🙂

All my current dramas are ongoing, so nothing finished yet. Currently watching Heartbeat and 2 cdramas, Mysterious Lotus Casebook and Lost You Forever – all progressing pretty nicely right now but I’m always expecting something to go wonky at the end, so not counting my chickens yet. 😆

Ooh, you’re still going with Heartbeat! I guess that’s a good thing 🙂 And 2 cdramas in the mix is definitely great. I do know how hard it is for them to stay strong all the way through though. Wishing you luck!

Oh, I’m really enjoying Heartbeat right now. I will be quite sad if they go and botch the ending. Both cdramas have totally delivered so far.

Ah, the ending. Well, it is a kdrama, so…😅

Watched 5 in July and surprisingly didn’t drop anything 🙂

Celebrity was shockingly good. Didn’t expect to like it because of the influencer storyline but it ended up being so much more and the acting was incredible. Lots of characters you love to hate and just couldn’t wait to see get what was coming to them. I think it was what The Fabulous wanted to be but wasn’t within a mile of. Thanks to Neflix dropping all episodes at once I binged the heck out of it!

Good Manager had been on my list for a while so I finally watched it. Didn’t super enjoy it but love Junho and he did a decent job here. 20 episodes was way too long and accounting shenanigans and business corruption is only so entertaining so it was a bit of a slog but I was super sick early in the month and ended up just having it running because I didn’t want to watch something I would really enjoy but couldn’t because I was sick so it sufficed to get through the week.

Oh Young Shim was another one I just watched while I was sick just to get through it. I had initally dropped it a month ago but decided to finish. I think it could have been a better story in better hands but the female lead was so annoying she was the reason I dropped early on. Not a highly recommend on this one.

See you in my 19th life – I had high hopes for this due to the cast and great reviews but found it fairly dull. Watched the remaining episodes this weekend and was so grateful it ended up only being 12 episodes.

After watching Dinner Mate last month I re-watched My Princess for Song Seung Heon and now I’m on a SSH kick so I watched When a Man Loves which was dated and good but the ending was a bit abrupt. I wish the female lead was played by a different actress because I’v not found Shin Se Kyung vibrant enough in any of her stuff although I’ve watched her a lot and liked all of the dramas she’s in, I’ve not enjoyed her.

Obsessed – a movie not a drama series was also for Song Seung Heon. It was X-rated and good but sad.

Have a bunch more SSH queued up in my watchlist for the coming month(s) 🙂

No drops is certainly a successful month! 🙂 Now you have more curious to check out Celebrity as I wasn’t too sure about it after The Fabulous. May have to give it a look.

Yeah, Good Manager is one I didn’t care for much. The actors were all great, but that was about it for me. Glad it worked enough for you while being sick though (hope you’re feeling much better!)

I do have See You in My 19th Life on my list. Too bad it was dull for you.

I actually still need to watch My Princess. It’s one of those classics that has been sitting on The List for like a decade! 😅 Enjoy your Song Seung Heon marathon in the coming months 😀

    I finished 3 dramas in July 2023:

Joseon Attorney – great acting by Woo Do Hwan, but the episodic structure and the uneven writing were a letdown.

Bloodhounds – there is not such thing as too much Woo Do Hwan, especially in a bromance. The main characters were not the brightest bulbs on the chandelier, but the bromance was well done. Caution: loan sharks and violence.

See You In My 19th Life – interesting premise, but too many plot holes.

I was kind of interested in Joseon Attorney but was concerned it my have a more episodic tone. Will probably keep it on the back burner.

Glad you enjoyed Bloodhounds well enough, but too bad about See You in My 19t Life. I do want to give that one a look.
