We are wrapping up 2022, so we had better get in those last minute dramas! And we have bunch of new ones you might also want to add to your watch list. Let’s see what we have to look forward to in this December 2022 edition of “Korean Dramas You Need to Be Watching.”
This monthly series is meant to keep you updated on what’s happening in that amazing world of Korean dramas so that you don’t miss out on anything! Here are the kdramas you should keep an eye out for in December 2022:
My Pick:
1. Alchemy of Souls 2
Part 2 of the popular drama Alchemy of Souls is easily my pick for the month. I’m so excited to continue this wonderful show and to again get immersed in a world of magic, action, and romance!
Alchemy of Souls 2 is set in a fictional country and continues the story where a troublemaking young man (Lee Jae Wook) from a noble family with a complicated secret surrounding his birth becomes the student of his servant (Go Yoon Jung/Jung So Min) who is actually a skilled assassin whose soul has been trapped in a weak body.
Alchemy of Souls 2 is scheduled to premiere December 10 on tvN.
PREMIERING IN DECEMBER:
2. Island
Island is a fantasy mystery about the daughter (Lee Da Hee) of a wealthy family who is exiled to Jeju Island and is targeted by a creature that is trying to destroy humans. She meets a man (Kim Nam Gil) who needs her to end his immortal life as well as an exorcist priest (Cha Eun Woo) and they all team up.
Island is scheduled to premiere December 30 on TVING.
3. The Glory
The Glory is a revenge drama about a woman (Song Hye Kyo) who is bullied so badly in high school that she had to drop out. She went on to become a teacher, and the bully’s child ends up becoming her student. She sets out to get revenge on her bully and those who stood by.
The Glory is scheduled to premiere December 30 on Netflix.
4. Work Later, Drink Now 2
Work Later, Drink Now 2 is about a group of single friends in their 30’s including 3 women (Lee Sun Bin, Han Sun Hwa, Jung Eun Ji) and a man (Choi Siwon) who all like to get together and drink after work.
Work Later, Drink Now 2 is scheduled to premiere December 9 on TVING.
5. The Forbidden Marriage
The Forbidden Marriage is about a king (Kim Young Dae) whose crown princess dies so he forbids marriage in the country, but a con artist (Park Joo Hyun) shows up saying she can be possessed by the spirit of the princess.
The Forbidden Marriage is scheduled to premiere December 9 on MBC.
6. The Fabulous
The Fabulous follows the work, romance, and friendships of four young people in the fashion industry including a freelance photo editor (Minho) and a woman (Chae Soo Bin) who works at a high end fashion agency.
The Fabulous is scheduled to premiere December 23 on Netflix.
7. Unlock My Boss
Unlock My Boss is about an unemployed man (Chae Jong Hyeop) who finds a smartphone, and the smartphone starts talking to him claiming that it is actually the CEO of big company (Park Sung Woong) whose soul is trapped in it. The man then tries to help and find out the truth.
Unlock My Boss is scheduled to premiere December 7 on ENA.
8. The Interest of Love
The Interest of Love follows the realistic love story of people who meet at a bank including a man (Yoo Yeon Seok) whose ordinary life is shaken up when he meets a woman (Moon Ga Young) who is dealing with difficult circumstances.
The Interest of Love is scheduled to premiere December 21 on JTBC.
9. Missing: The Other Side 2
Missing: The Other Side 2 is a mystery thriller about a town of souls that went missing when they were alive. A group of people including a conman (Go Soo) who uses his skills to help others and his assistant (Ahn So Hee) try to solve the cases surrounding them as they encounter a mysterious man (Heo Joon Ho) who connects the town and the outside world.
Missing: The Other Side 2 is scheduled to premiere in December on tvN.
10. Red Balloon
Red Balloon is about a tutor (Seo Ji Hye) who is struggling to become a teacher but will do anything to achieve her goals as well as a man (Lee Jung Jae) who is married to a woman from a rich family but is powerless at his company.
Red Balloon is scheduled to premiere December 17 on TV Chosun.

Reborn Rich is about a man (Song Joong Ki) who was loyal to a chaebol family but was framed for embezzlement and then killed. He is reborn as the youngest son of the family and sets out to take over as he plans his revenge.
Reborn Rich airs Friday, Saturday, and Sunday on JTBC.
Curtain Call
Curtain Call is about an old woman (Go Doo Shim) who fled North Korea and was separated from her husband and child. She sets up a hotel in South Korea and hopes to reunite with them before she dies. An unknown theater actor (Kang Ha Neul) pretends to be her grandson in order to fulfill her last wish and gets involved with the woman’s granddaughter (Ha Ji Won).
Curtain Call airs Monday and Tuesday on KBS.
Summer Strike
Summer Strike is a mystery romance set in a small seaside town about a librarian (Im Siwan) and a woman (Seolhyun) who recently quit her job.
Summer Strike airs on Genie TV.
The First Responders
The First Responders focuses on the joint response of police and firefighters as they work to save people’s lives during crimes and disasters. It focuses on a detective (Kim Rae Won), a paramedic (Gong Seung Yeon), and a firefighter (Son Ho Jun).
The First Responders airs Saturday and Sunday on SBS.
Under the Queen’s Umbrella
Under the Queen’s Umbrella is set during the Joseon era and is about a queen (Kim Hye Soo) dealing with her five troublemaking sons as they are tried to be made into good princes.
Under the Queen’s Umbrella airs Friday and Saturday on tvN.
May I Help You
May I Help You is a fantasy drama about a man (Lee Jun Young) who runs errands starting at 100 won and a funeral director (Hyeri) who grants wishes for the dead that team up to run a business.
May I Help You airs Wednesday and Thursday on MBC.
Love is for Suckers
Love is for Suckers is about long time friends who begin to develop feelings for each other after they unexpectedly end up as a PD (Lee Da Hee) and a contestant (Choi Siwon) on a dating show.
Love is for Suckers airs Wednesday and Thursday on ENA.
Cheer Up
Cheer Up is a mystery romantic comedy about a a group of college students who are part of a once successful cheering squad that is now in bad shape. They include the captain (Bae In Hyuk) of the cheering squad and a rookie member (Han Ji Hyun).
Cheer Up airs Monday and Tuesday on SBS.
Revenge of Others
Revenge of Others is a revenge thriller about a student (Shin Ye Eun) trying to uncover the truth behind her twin brother’s death.
Revenge of Others airs Wednesday on Disney+.
