   Kdrama update August 2022

   I finished 2 dramas this month:
   Another Oh Hae Young – a romantic comedy with melancholy overtones
   Solomon’s Perjury – interesting combination between legal thriller and high school drama, but it worked rather well.

   Hi Kay,

   I finished 3 dramas this month. Only one kdrama though and two cdramas. The one kdrama I completed was Extraordinary Attorney Woo. I normally don’t like procedural type dramas but I loved this one so much. The cast is amazing and Park Eun Bin is so endearing. She is an amazing actress. Hope to see more of her.

      Ah, I’m glad you liked Extraordinary Attorney Woo so much. I too don’t care for procedural dramas, but I have added it to my list after hearing so many wonderful things about it 🙂

   August was an odd month for me as I dropped 3, finished 2, and stalled on 2. Feel like I’m coming to some sort of crossroads in my kdrama watching after 6 years and not sure how to proceed.

   Dropped:
   Welcome to Wedding Hell – 2 episodes in didn’t find myself invested in any of the characters or the story in general, same for Today’s Webtoon.
   Extraordinary Lawyer Woo – I liked the entire cast but not a fan of episodic legal dramas and found the autism storyline a bit difficult to believe. Can someone be that high functioning in the legal arena with that level of what seemed like innocent child-like personality? When the suggestion of romance started I bowed out.

   Finished:
   Jinxed at First – Hated this and wished I didn’t start but got too deep in before I realized it wasn’t going anywhere and just finished it.
   Alchemy of Souls – The one bright spot in my month. Loved this from beginning to end. Only problem is that there’s a season 2! I had no idea the story would end on a cliffhanger and I’d have to wait ’til December (?) to get a resolution! If I knew that, I’d watch them back to back later this year. Ugh.

   Stalled:
   Once Again and Matrimonial Chaos – enjoying both and plan to finish but as previously stated, I’m feeling the need to pull back on my kdrama watching as it’s taking up so many hours of my evenings. I need to get some balance back in my life. Decisions, decisions!

      That is definitely an interesting month you had! I think it’s pretty normal after that many years of watching dramas to be experiencing some changes. Most people eventually scale it back a bit. I’m sure you’ll find your balance though 🙂

      It’s too bad about Extraordinary Woo, Welcome to Wedding Hell, and Today’s Webtoon. Also Jinxed at First even though you finished it.

      At least you had Alchemy of Souls to love. It’s so nice to have an amazing drama to make up for the others. It is a bummer that there will be several months before the second season though. I’ll be starting it soon and am very excited!

   I finished 20 episodes of Alchemy of Souls, but I think of it as a 30 episode drama, so I did not add it to my list of finished dramas for August. I am looking forward to the conclusion. So far this has been my favorite drama of the year.

      I plan to start Alchemy of Souls in September and am sooo looking forward to it! It looks perfect for me. I’ll probably break them up since I think they are labeling the first 20 episodes as season 1 and the next 10 as season 2. Too bad we’ll have to wait several month for all of it!
