Business Proposal Korean Drama - Ahn Hyo Seop and Kim Se Jeong

I actually got in two dramas for the month of June!  It was the romantic comedy Business Proposal and the magical mystery The Sound of Magic that made for fun watches. Here’s how it went:

Business Proposal Korean Drama - Ahn Hyo Seop, Kim Se Jeong, Kim Min Kyu, Seol In AhBusiness Proposal

Business Proposal is an all-around fun romantic comedy. We get romance, humor, heart, and just a side of drama. It contains a fair amount of rom-com tropes, but it delivers them in a refreshing way and nails the overall execution.

Our main romance between Ha Ri and Tae Moo was very enjoyable with nice growth and a helping of swoony moments. There’s a nice secondary romance as well as a fun bromance and girlmance. Business Proposal is entertaining from start to finish. The drama flew by with the 12 episodes delivering excellent pacing. A fun drama all around. (Business Proposal Review)

The Sound of Magic

The Sound of Magic is unique in the drama landscape in that it is a musical. It only had 6 episodes, but it manages to weave together a good story that includes a mystery and a blending of psychology and fantasy.

It is a solid series with a more serious tone and several difficult subject matters, but there is an air of hope throughout it too. Add in a side of magic, and we have an intriguing drama. I didn’t find the show particularly gripping, but the combination of the good story, engaging characters, mystery, and heart made for an overall enjoyable watch. (The Sound of Magic Review)

So how was June for you?

Happy drama watching to everyone!

I recently became a fan of Ahn Seop after watching him in Lovers of the Red Sky😁
    He was so gorgeous 😄

So, am really looking forward to Business Proposal. You can recommend any other of his dramas that you feel were awesome.

    Thank you for sharing 🤝🏿

I have Lovers of the Red Sky on my watch list still. I think you’ll really like him in Business Proposal. He’s very fun and likable in it. Quite dashing too, hehe. Did you ever see Thirty But Seventeen? He’s the second lead in that, but he’s such an endearing character in it. Excellent drama too by the way 😊

Thank you very much. Will look forward to it.

        Happy New Month😁🎈

Hi Kay – glad you enjoyed ‘Business Proposal’. I finished two dramas this month – Shooting Stars and Autumn’s Concerto. Autumn’s Concerto is an old Taiwanese drama. They are doing a group watch on ‘thefangirlverdict.com’ and I wanted to join and ended up binging the whole thing again. I loved it the first time I watched it and it is still as good the second time around. 🙂 Have you seen this one?

    1. Kay Avatar

Hi D! Yes, Business Proposal was a great drama 🙂 I’m watching Shooting Stars right now.

I have had Autumn’s Concerto on my watch list for so many years, but sadly, just haven’t made it around to it. At first it was just too many dramas on my list, then I knew it was quite sad, so I kept putting it off. Now it’s back to so many dramas! lol 😂 I do plan to watch it at some point though. I’m glad you enjoyed the second time around. That’s always the mark of a great drama when it holds up to rewatch 🙂

Hi Kay – Business Proposal was a cute little drama and I thought Lee Deok Hwa was a scene stealer. I watched Sound of Magic and it was certainly different. I am watching Kiss Sixth Sense and hoping the writing stays on track.

It was super cute! And yes! I loved Lee Deok Hwa here! He was so much fun, and I love getting to see him in more comedic roles 🙂

The Sound of Magic was certainly different too. I’m hoping to check out Kiss Sixth Sense if Disney+ ever gets it in my country. It looked fun 🙂

June 2022 was all about time travel and zombies for me. I finished 3 dramas:

Queen Inhyun’s Man – probably the best and the cutest time travel drama and deservedly a classic.

All Of Us Are Dead – high school angst meets zombie apocalypse. Excellent performances by a bunch of young actors. Warning: a lot of gore and a high body count, but the story is good and well executed.

Happiness – another future classic in the K-zombie subgenre. This one is a mashup of zombie apocalypse, social commentary, and contract marriage tropes, but it works.

      Finished
Our Blues – wasn’t sure I’d stick with it after the first couple of episodes but glad I did. Similar setting to Hometown Cha Cha Cha but with more serious stories. Excellent cast and another one where I would not have minded a few more episodes as I miss joining them every week.

Shooting Stars – fluffy rom com with in an office of an entertainment company as the back drop. It’s the closest I’ve seen Lee Sung Kyung to her role as Kim Bok Joo which I really enjoyed. All round light hearted drama with a few serious bits in the early half then settled into something more traditional.

Woori the Virgin – okay watch. 14 episodes. Based off Jane the Virgin but as I never watched that I don’t know how close to the original the kdrama version was. To me the story seemed out of place culturally but maybe I just didn’t “get” it.

Mr. Sunshine – probably one of the best kdramas out there. It’s too serious and heartbreaking for me to add it to my favorites list but it was exceptionally good in every way. Episodes were too long but if you know that going in then you can prepare for the time expenditure. I couldn’t imagine bingeing it.

Dropped Why Her. Not in the mood for a drama in a legal setting/office. Looks good from the bit I saw.

      Currently watching
Once Again – to fill my daytime drama guilty pleasure
The Greatest Love – Hong Sisters at their early best
Yumi Cells 2- if you liked the YC1 then you’ll enjoy the continuation of the story
Jinxed at First – wasn’t sure what to expect but enjoying so far
Alchemy of Souls – My current fave! So good!

Wow! What a list, Kate! It sounds like you had a pretty good month 🙂 I’m glad you enjoyed Our Blues and Mr. Sunshine. Mr. Sunshine really is such a well done drama. It’s one of those that’s kind of in a league of its own. I’m currently watching Shooting Stars, and it’s okay so far.

Was Woori the Virgin on the lighter or more serious side?

I’ll be going for Yumi’s Cells 2 soon. Looking forward to continuing that story 🙂

        1. Kate Avatar

Definitely go for Yumi’s Cells before Woori. I honestly think it’s a skip rather than a must see unfortunately. My current fave watch is Alchemy of Souls – really good!!

          1. Kay Avatar

Aww, that’s too bad. I’ve mostly heard negative things about it. I think Yumi will be what I go for next. Alchemy of Souls is on the list too 🙂

    2. Kay Avatar

Well, time travel and zombies sounds like a good way to spend the month! hehe 😊

Queen In Hyun’s Man is a fun drama for sure. A classic.

I’ve heard lots of good things about both of the zombie dramas. All of Us Are Dead is probably a bit too gory for me, but I might check out Happiness at some point, as it looks more my style 🙂
