Scripting Your Destiny is about a god (Ki Do Hoon) who writes the fates of humans.  When tasked with writing a romantic fate, he steals ideas from a drama writer (Jeon So Nee) whose scripts are over the top. He plans to pair the writer with a kind man (Kim Woo Suk), but he begins to fall for her in the process.

Ki Do Hoon plays Shin Ho Yoon. He’s a god who writes the fates of humans. He is smug and is usually pretty detached from everything. That begins to change though when he starts to have feelings for a human he is writing the fate of.

We have Jeon So Nee as Go Chae Kyung. She is a drama scriptwriter who keeps her identity hidden. She meets a nice man but is surprised that their relationship is playing out like one of her stories. And she is even more surprised by a unique man that starts drawing her attention.

Kim Woo Suk is Jung Ba Reum. He is a producer who is very sweet and kind. He falls for Chae Kyung and does his best to woo her. He finds himself at odds with Ho Yoon as their personalities clash.

I watched Scripting Your Destiny on a whim since I don’t usually watch a lot of web dramas. It consists of 10 episodes that are about 25 minutes long. With this being a shorter drama, the pacing moves along pretty swiftly from one key scene to the next. No time for fluff here.

I found it to be an okay watch overall, but that’s about it. Some of the acting was a bit so-so, and it has a kind of low-key feel to it for being a fantasy. The production is decent though. It also has a pretty good story with a god of fate stealing stories to write a human’s fate who he then falls in love with. It’s a cute concept that had a lot to work with.

The drama is mostly a lighter watch with comedy throughout. We get a lot of relationship antics as we watch Ho Yoon and Chae Kyung go through the bickering phase and then grow closer. Nothing too exciting but executed well enough.

The last few episodes of the series get more serious as we get some important backstory and see how things play out between a god who is not supposed to have feelings for a human and the human he has written a bad fate for.

These last episodes felt much meatier and were my favorite part of the drama. I would have loved to have seen this story focused on more strongly throughout the series rather than just at the end.

And for being a web drama, this series has a great soundtrack! There were several wonderful songs that really stir up the emotion. I felt like they deserved a place in a full length drama.

Scripting Your Destiny is a simple and quick watch. I think it’s well done for a web drama, but it wasn’t very engaging me for me. If you like light fantasy romance that leans comedic, this could be a good fit for you though.

My Rating: 6/10

That’s great! You should check it out. I didn’t love it, but it’s short and easy. Definitely well done for a web drama.

Ahaha! Sometimes I think our drama tastes are really quite inverse! 😂 I liked this one within mere minutes, and thought it was pretty great, though I liked the last episode less. I thought it was very well done for a web drama, and that it managed to pack a lot into each short episode. Needless to say, I gave it a slightly better rating than you did, heh. 😁

Ok, but we aren’t actually inverse drama opposites, since we both loved Someday Or One Day, so there’s that! 😆

Haha, yeah, I think we’re about 50/50 in sharing the same drama likes. It was actually you’re review that made me give this one a whirl, hehe 😂 Like you, I actually thought it was quite well done for a web drama. I couldn’t help comparing it to full length dramas though, so if felt a bit rushed and underdeveloped to me. I liked those last few eps a lot though since the story was actually really good.

And yes, we definitely have our shared love for Someday or One Day ❤ One of the best dramas ever!
