I was quite busy in December with all of the year end blog activities, but I still got in three dramas. And they sure were a good watches!  The angsty historical My Country: The New Age, the fantasy romantic comedy Extraordinary You, and the exciting historical The Tale of Nokdu are what I enjoyed for the month:

My Country: The New Age

My Country: The New Age was quite the watch! It has a fantastic story, great production, and plenty of action which includes some impressive sword fights to keep things exciting. It’s also the kind of drama that might just rip your heart out and then stomp all over it!

I liked that My Country: The New Age was more serious and angsty while giving me an intense story of two long-time friends pitted against each other, a heartfelt romance, and plenty of intrigue.

Yang Se Jong, Woo Do Hwan, and Jang Hyuk gave some seriously impressive and memorable performances here. My Country: The New Age was enjoyable all the way through. (My Country: The New Age Review)

Extraordinary You

I was surprised by just how much I enjoyed Extraordinary You! I love meta stories like this with comic characters becoming self-aware. The drama is bright and fun with lots of humor including poking fun at many of the classic tropes we all know.

The rules of the comic world were very interesting, and there was a solid mystery concerning why the characters acted certain ways as well as why so many unusual things were happening. There were also a lot of great themes explored as the characters became self-aware, coped with their new knowledge, and attempted to change their fate.

Kim Hye Yoon and Rowoon were an adorable couple, and I really enjoyed their relationship which was a mix of cute fun and low-key angst. I  really enjoyed all the characters and the world that they inhabited. Extraordinary you was a lot fun with lots of heart, and I had such a wonderful time watching it. (Extraordinary You Review)

The Tale of Nokdu

I loved this drama so much! The Tale of Nokdu is one of those dramas with a little a bit of everything: action, romance, intrigue, mystery, humor, angst, and heart. And that combination makes for a pretty terrific drama!

Jang Dong Yoon was wonderful in the portrayal of a man having to disguise himself as a woman, and there was lots of fun humor surrounding that. He and Kim So Hyun also made a wonderful couple with a relationship that was quite swoony as well as heart wrenching. The rest of the cast was really amazing too.

The Tale of Nokdu was a wonderful historical. It set up a great story early on that blossomed into an intense drama. The pacing was great throughout with humor to make me laugh, and then it upped the stakes with some serious plot developments. All of the elements blended together nicely to make for an entertaining watch all the way through. My heart was left feeling very full! (The Tale of Nokdu Review)

    I finished 2 dramas in December:
    Time between Dog and Wolf: One of the coolest kdrama titles and one of the coolest older dramas I have watched.
    The Tale of Nokdu – Winner of the Best Romance for 2019!

      That’s a fantastic couple dramas for December 🙂 Haha, I remember the first time I heard the title Time Between Dog and Wolf and thought that sounded so strange. Now I’m with you and think it’s one of the best drama titles! Also one of the best classic action dramas 🙂

      And of course, The Tale of Nokdu deserves all the praise it gets. A truly wonderful drama!

      Looks like you’re more than ready for the new year! I’ll be tuning in for Kingdom 2 also and probably Pegasus Market.

      Gu Family Book! That’s one of my all time favorites. It was my second historical ever, and I sure loved every minute of it 🙂

      Happy New Year to you too! 🙂 🙂 🙂

    You had a very good month for dramas. All three I want to see but I have not seen yet. I managed to finish 4 dramas this month:
    * Second 20s
    * Triad Princess
    * Be Melodramatic
    * When the Camellia Blooms
    I liked them all but my favourite for the month was Be Melodramatic. This drama was such a delight – quirky, funny and heart wrenching.
    My least favourite one was When the Camellia Blooms – though I enjoyed it – not as much as the others.

      It was really nice to have such a great month where all the dramas got above an 8 🙂 I hope you get to check some of them out as they were each wonderful in their own way.

      I haven’t seen any of your list, but I’m watching When the Camellia Blooms right now. I’m a few eps in and enjoying it quite a bit, which has been a pleasant surprise so far.

      I’ll definitely have to check out Be Melodramatic with how you’ve described it. I’m hit or miss with the slice of life types, and it really just comes down to if the characters and quirkiness win me over. So hopefully it work for me 🙂

    You watched 3 of the best dramas of the year in one month! Gonna be tough to follow 🙂 Happy New Year!

      That I did! I truly ended the year right with a fantastic batch of dramas. I know what you mean, the follow up is going to be tough (already has been with the next couple dramas I went for, hehe). Hoping to dig up some more gems ASAP 🙂 Happy New Year!!

    My last month was such a hard battle. HAHAHA. In the sense that I have watched some few pilot episodes to see which one to finally watch.

    And thus, I only finished two:
    *CLEAN WITH PASSION FOR NOW (8/10) – Finally has able to have the right mood to watch this. Such a lovely and probably one of the cutest couple, that I called the Cleanliness Couple.
    Clean with Passion is indeed very simple in its plot, with a cliche type of past-flashback that connects the lives of our two main leads. It was such a surprise to me that Kim Yo Jung could actually bring the matured character on just very effortlessly. And couldn’t imagine having another version of Jang Seon Kyeol cause he portrayed the character very well. The romance, even those pecks and kisses were very good to see (HAHAHAHA). Over all, I did enjoy it very much, but not so in the last three episodes that were quite serious.

    *MELTING ME SOFTLY (8.5/10) – I just missed our Ji Chang Wook, hahahaha. With Won Jin Ah as the female lead, and the fresh concept for a drama, Melting Me Softly did melt my heart and mouth (cause its first half is so funny). And I have to commend Won Jin Ah for her very good acting style. But I just have to say that her character as Go Mi Ran became just so-so in the second half of the drama. It gave me feels like they did nothing more to liven up her character (Well is it just me? HAHA). Chang Wook is still one of those I’d love to see in every drama. (Here’s hoping to also have chance to see his other older dramas next years). But for Melitng Me, and almost all of the supporting characters, I did grow fond of them, maybe a bit. HAHAHA.

      Sometimes it takes a few tries to find that right drama. Sounds like you finished off the year good though with your choices. The couple in Clean With Passion are in indeed super cute 🙂

      And I’m always happy to see some Melting Me Softly love! That drama was so fun, and I loved both Ji Chang Wook and Won Jin Ah. They were such a great couple. Loved all of the supporting characters too. I do hope you get to watch some more Ji Chang Wook dramas this year. He has so many good ones and is always enjoyable to watch 🙂
