My Country Korean Drama - Seolhyun

AOA’s Seolhyun (Orange Marmalade) has been offered a lead role in the new JTBC historical drama My Country. She would play a woman skilled in martial arts. If she accepts, she would join the already confirmed Yang Se Jong (Thirty But Seventeen) and Woo Do Hwan (Great Seducer) who are set to star.

My Country is set at the end of the Goryeo era and follows the story of two friends where one is the son (Yang Se Jong) of a powerful general who can’t stand injustice and one (Woo Do Hwan) wants to pass the military service exam, but corruption by his father affects their friendship.

My Country is planning to air the second half of 2019 on JTBC.

The premise doesn’t really say “must watch” to me as I’m sure there will be yet another love triangle and I’m rather sick and tired of that trope.The plot also sounds so ‘been there, done that’. But it’s always nice to have a sageuk set in some other era than Joseon.

  Yeah, for those who don’t like love triangles, this certainly sounds like it will be one. I don’t mind them though. But like you, the best thing is just seeing another sageuk on the line up, particularly set before the Joseon era. My favorite is the Goryeo era and we don’t get near enough of those. But I’m happy we have so many sageuks already planned in the first half of the year 🙂

I discovered her just recently while watching Orange Marmalade. I saw her potential and wondered why she does not have much dramas. And here we have a new drama for her. She is not in my ‘favorites’ (yet) but I am happy they are making use of her potential. 🙂

  Orange Marmalade is the only drama I have seen her in, and that was a few years ago. I liked her in it, so I’m very interested in getting to see her again. So hopefully, we will get to in this drama 🙂

Yang Se Jong is 💖. I’m definitely watching this one because of him. He has wowed me with his acting most especially in his drama duel. Sooooo I hope this drama puts a spot light on him this year coz he definitely deserves it. Haha sorry fan girl mode on.

  He was amazing in Duel!! That was my first time seeing him, and it made me an instant fan. He was just sooooo good 🙂 I thought he was wonderful in Thirty But Seventeen too, especially as the drama progressed. So like you, I hope he gets a chance to shine in this drama too 🙂
