Hwayugi Korean Drama - Lee Seung Gi, Oh Yeon Seo, Cha Seung Won

Hwayugi is off to a strong start in Nielsen drama ratings by bringing in impressive numbers for its premiere episode. There were a few production issues that effected the second episode which seems to be reflected in the dip it saw that night. But overall, the numbers are still quite good.
Ep. 1 – 5.2%
Ep. 2 – 4.8%

Hwayugi is a romantic comedy horror loosely based on the Chinese novel Journey to the West about the journey of a monk and four others to atone for their sins. The drama moves the story to the modern day where the trouble making Monkey King (Lee Seung Gi) is exiled to the human world without his powers because of his corruption. He seeks to restore them with the help of a wealthy realtor (Oh Yeon Seo) descended from monks who can unseal them. The two then work to battle evil spirits together.

Hwayugi airs Saturday and Sunday on tvN.

I was holding myself back and wait for 6 or more episodes before I start to watch but I miss Lee Seung Gi so much.. This is very promising!!!

I’m still holding out so far, but I know how you feel and it’s so hard. I too miss Lee Seung Gi so much and can’t hardly stand to wait! But I have enjoyed getting to see him again in clips for this show as well as his variety show. So glad to have him back!
