Lee Hong Ki Joins the Cast of Korean Drama “Hwayugi”

Hwayugi Korean Drama - Lee Hong Ki

We now have Lee Hong Ki (Modern Farmer) confirmed to be joining the Hong sisters drama Hwayugi. He will play a top star. He joins the recently confirmed Oh Yeon Seo (My Sassy Girl) as a wealthy realtor who battles spirits and Cha Seung Won (Hawjung) as a successful CEO of an entertainment agency and the hero’s rival.

I’m thrilled that Lee Hong Ki has joined the group, and the cast is really shaping up nicely. Now Lee Seung Gi, please sign on to star! As much as I love everyone else, he’s the one I’m really waiting for. So here’s hoping!

Hwayugi is a romantic comedy horror loosely based on the Chinese novel Journey to the West about the journey of a monk and four others to atone for their sins. The drama moves the story to the modern day where the trouble making Monkey King (Lee Seung Gi) is exiled to the human world without his powers because of his corruption. He seeks to restore them with the help of a wealthy realtor (Oh Yeon Seo) descended from monks who can unseal them. The two then work to battle evil spirits together.

Hwayugi is looking to air in December on tvN.

I have always admired Lee Hong Ki. Looking forward to it. I hope it will be good and won’t turn out as Bride of water god but it’s Hong Sisters after all. Let’s see.
