Total Solar Eclipse: August 21, 2017

I’m going off topic for a non- kdrama themed post today. It also really only effects readers in the US, but I really wanted to draw attention to this special event that is coming up. On August 21, 2017, a total solar eclipse will be viewable across a large portion of the United States. This is a once in a lifetime type event, and I want to make sure you know about it!

It has been nicknamed The Great American Eclipse because the eclipse path will travel across the entire continental US which is something that hasn’t happened since 1918. Millions of people live directly in the path of the moon’s shadow and hundreds of millions live within just a half days drive or less to the path.

If you are in the path to see the total eclipse on that day, you have the chance to see what is considered by many to be the most spectacular sight in nature. As day turns to night, a black disk slips over the sun and reveals its beautiful corona. This is a sight that pictures in no way does justice, and words just cannot describe the experience! So if you have the opportunity to see it, make the most of it!

If you want to see how close you are to the path of the total eclipse as well as learn how you can view this event, you can visit these pages:

And if you do get to see the eclipse, who knows, maybe you’ll even get transported back in time to the Goryeo era where you can meet a few handsome princes. You never know 😉

I just had to get a little bit of kdrama into the post 🙂

Right? I can’t decide if that would actually be a good thing or a bad thing, lol 😉

Bummer! Probably no chance of a meet up with a handsome prince here in Southern California–only a partial eclipse in my ‘hood. I’d be good with an adorkable gentleman instead! I took that day off work to rest up after KCON, so at least I will get to see it.

Well darn! But who knows, maybe magic can happen during a partial eclipse too 😉 And you’re not doing to bad anyways. I think getting to go to KCON would be a close second to seeing the total eclipse, hehe

Cool, had no idea this was happening.

It should be pretty awesome! The closer you live to the path, the more likely people will be talking about it A LOT in the coming the weeks 🙂
