Kingdom Korean Drama - Song Joong Ki

Fresh on the heels of news of his marriage to Descendants of the Sun co-star Song Hye Kyo, Song Joong Ki has been offered the lead role in the new drama Kingdom coming from hit writer Kim Eun Hee of Signal and Ghost. Kingdom is a zombie sageuk about a crown prince in the Joseon era who discovers a terrible zombie epidemic in the kingdom. The 8 episode drama will be a big budget Netflix original directed by the PD of the movie Tunnel.

I was super excited for this drama when it was originally announced since I’m anxious to see another tense thriller from the amazing writer of Signal. While I’m not a big fan of zombies, I completely loved the hit movie Train to Busan. And I must say that the concept of zombies in Joseon completely grabbed my attention.

I think that Song Joong Ki would be completely perfect for a role like this. He is very talented with a wide range, and I know he can easily pull of a sageuk, especially of the epic zombie kind. So I’m really hoping he signs on for what should be a very exciting drama!

Kingdom is looking to air towards the end of 2017 on Netflix.

Well, I am a huge fan of zombies…and optimistic about my chances to see this one, seeing it is going to be on Netflix (that usually improves my chances to see a Korean drama 😀).

Haha, well then a zombie themed drama should be a good fit. I thought of you when I saw it was going to be a Netflix original. I figured it would greatly up your chances of getting to see it. Hopefully, you find a good historical before then, but if not, a zombie historical might make for an entertaining first 😉
