Legend of the Blue Sea Korean Drama - Lee Min Ho and Jun Ji Hyun

Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Ju Korean Drama - Nam Joo Hyuk and Lee Sung Kyung Oh My Geum Bi Korean Drama - Oh Ji Ho and Heo Jung Eun

A rare thing happened this week in Dramaland…three dramas premiered on the same day! And one of them was the highly anticipated Legend of the Blue Sea starring Lee Min Ho and Jun Ji Hyun. Legend of the Blue Sea had a strong debut with an impressive 16.4% for episode 1 on Wednesday. Episode 2 on Thursday  brought in 15.1%.

Oh My Geum Bi finished well behind Legend of the Blue Sea in second place. It brought in 5.9% for episode 1 on Wednesday and 6.5% for episode 2 on Thursday.

There wasn’t much left for Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Ju which brought in a dismal 3.3% for episode 1 on Wednesday and another 3.3% for episode 2 Thursday.

As expected, Legend of the Blue Sea left its competitors far behind. And starting out with numbers that strong, who knows how high it could potentially climb. The next couple weeks will be telling as to whether or not it will maintain those numbers and become a ratings giant.

Legend of the Blue Sea airs Wednesday and Thursday on SBS.

Oh My Geum Bi airs Wednesday and Thursday on KBS.

Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Ju airs Wednesday and Thursday on MBC.

Too bad that Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Ju, was up against such strong contenders. I think it might definitely be worth a watch. That being said, this is ofcourse not a really surprising outcome. I saw that Legend of the Blue Sea is on Viki already, but as I am still in the middle of Heartless City and after that want to start with Bridal Mask it will be a while for me to start on it. Still cool to see that it made such a fantastic debut 😀

Yeah, I knew whatever dramas went up against Legend of the Blue Sea would likely suffer. The low ratings definitely aren’t an indication of quality though. Weightlifting Fairy seems to be generally well received as I’ve seen overwhelmingly positive responses to it. It’s just bad luck to end up against a popular drama. Come Back Ahjussi was a solid drama, but it went against Descendants of the Sun and had extremely low ratings. Beautiful Mind was also good, but went against the popular Doctors. But you never know, maybe the other dramas will carve out a small following. But yes, a great accomplishment for Legend of the Blue Sea.

I understand waiting. As excited as I am for these dramas, I prefer to let some episodes build up before I start. I just hate having to wait too long, hehe. And now you have me wanting to go rewatch Bridal Mask. But there’s no time! Too many dramas, lol

Haha, yes I know the problem. When reading reviews from certain shows or movies at other blogs, I also times long to rewatch things. Abd honestly I sometimes do (no wonder I have too little time for everything 😂😂) Yes…cliffhangers can be annoying enough. If you have every week it becomes even harder lol 😀
