The Man Living in Our House Korean Drama - Kim Young Kwang and Soo Ae

Woman With a Suitcase Korean Drama - Joo Jin Mo and Choi Ji Woo Romantic Doctor Teacher Kim Korean Drama - Yoo Yeon Seok

Medical drama Romantic Doctor Teacher Kim solidified its place on top this week. It premiered with very good ratings last week and saw a nice increase this week. Romantic Doctor Teacher Kim brought in 12.4% for episode 3 on Monday and 13.8% for episode 4 on Tuesday.

Woman With a Suitcase had three episodes this week. It brought in 8.9% for episode 14 on Monday. On Tuesday, it had 8.9% for episode 15 and finished with a series high of 10% for episode 16.

The Man Living in Our House saw another sharp decrease bringing in only 4.5% on Monday for episode 7. It brought in 4.7% for episode 8 on Tuesday.

It looks like doctor dramas are the hit trend this year with Romantic Doctor Teacher Kim bringing in impressive numbers early on. Woman With a Suitcase had a good run and finished strong.

The Man Living in Our House has fallen each week leaving it with dismal ratings. Next week brings the premiere of melodrama Night Light. We’ll see if that shakes anything up.

Romantic Doctor Teacher Kim airs Monday & Tuesday on SBS.

The Man Living in Our House airs Monday & Tuesday on KBS.

Woman With a Suitcase airs Monday & Tuesday on MBC.

It’s a shame that more people aren’t watching The Man Living in Our House. It’s so good! But yay for Doctor Teacher Kim, I still need to check that one out. ^^

I feel really bad when a drama gets lower than 5% since it indicates such low numbers of the Korean audience tuning in. I know it’s not indicative of the drama’s quality at all since international tastes frequently differ, but I always want a good drama to succeed in its home country since it is good for the cast and production team. But yes, great for Romantic Doctor Teacher Kim. I’ll eventually be checking it out too 🙂

So surprised TMLOH is getting such low ratings. It’s got a pretty novel plot line and the acting has been magnificent. The domestic taste is definitely quite different from overseas. E.g. Doctors got such high ratings but I found it quite bland.

Yeah, the tastes do seem to differ many times. More times than not it seems that the more unique plot lines aren’t as well received. It doesn’t surprise me that Romantic Doctor Teacher Kim is doing so well with a more dramatic and melo feel. I haven’t started either of them, but I plan to watch both soon. TMLOH is the one I’ve been really looking forward to, and I’ve heard mostly good things 🙂
