October was another wonderful month of dramas! I loved them all in different ways, and it made for a very fun time. It’s all new dramas this month, but a couple Chinese dramas made their way onto the list. I completed three new kdramas and two new cdramas this month for a total of five dramas in October:
Moonlight Drawn By Clouds
Moonlight Drawn By Clouds was a wonderful youth historical! We have a fantastic couple that were all kinds of cute at the heart of the drama backed by a solid story. The first half is a lot of fun with a great dynamic between our couple. Then the story thickens as the stakes become higher and everyone’s relationships are put to the test.
Park Bo Gum is a complete charmer as the Crown Prince, and he really delivered when things got intense. I did feel like the drama lost a little bit of steam after the big reveal to the Prince that Ra On is a girl. We lost a little bit of that initial charm. But luckily, the couple remained completely adorable, and the story was very solid to carry things through to the end. It was definitely a good ride. (Moonlight Drawn By Clouds Review)
Cinderella and the Four Knights
Cinderella and the Four Knights was such a fun and easy watch. It’s more than the fluff piece it appears to be on the surface. It’s also a story of people finding happiness by coming to terms with who they are and reconciling past hurts in order to finally become a family.
Park So Dam was the absolute perfect female lead, and Jung Il Woo really gave a wonderful performance as we slowly watched his character grow. And Jung Il Woo and Park So Dam ended up being one of the cutest couples around Dramaland! There was just so much cute!
I thought they had this wonderful and easy going chemistry between them, and I just couldn’t get enough of it. I was never short on smiles. Cinderella and the Four Knights was tons of fun with a lot of heart. All in all, it was a joy and has left me with a lot of good memories. (Cinderella and the Four Knights Review)
Police Unit 38
Police Unit 38 was a very enjoyable watch. It is a really solid crime drama that is a perfect example of a good show in this genre. The drama was filled with plenty of tension as our team sets up elaborate scams to trick the large scale tax evaders into giving up their money. I actually really enjoyed watching all that went into setting up a scam and then seeing how it would play out. It was really interesting to see the elaborate measures the team would go to in order to pull them off.
The writing was excellent with many layers to the plot. I appreciated that the drama wasn’t episodic and was more serialized. It contains three main story arcs with each arc building upon the previous one while further developing the characters. There are also plenty of plot twists to keep your guessing. Police Unit 38 was a fantastic watch. (Police Unit 38 Review)
Love O2O
Love O2O is breezy and fun as we follow the relationships of students on a college campus. Each episode is very light and passed by quickly. There are so many adorable couple moments between these two! Probably the main reason to watch the drama is to watch these two lovebirds being ridiculously cute.
My favorite part of the drama was the in game scenes which I thought were gorgeous. And then everyone wears these beautiful fantasy costumes with long shimmering hair. It was a feast for the eyes. The music is absolutely gorgeous too.
There’s not a whole lot of story, and I wouldn’t have minded to see a bit more tension and plot. But Love O2O is able to create a fun world of characters that you eventually just become comfortable being with. It was enjoyable just watching each set of friends interact and the blossoming romance of our main couple was always sweet. It’s the perfect drama if you just want something light and fun. Chronicle of Life
Chronicle of Life had so many different aspects that I enjoyed, and I really loved it overall. Everything about how this drama was filmed is absolutely gorgeous with so many rich, beautiful colors in all of the sets and costumes as well as such stunning outdoor shots. I just loved looking at each and every scene. Chronicle of Life also has a lot of beautiful music to really add to the setting.
The Emperor and Lin Lang are such a great couple too. He’s about as nice of a male lead as you can ask for, and you could just feel his immense love for Lin Lang.
There’s a bit of repetition in the middle stretch of the drama, but things pick back up for the latter third with a thickening revenge story. I was never bored and enjoyed the story all the way through. (Chronicle of Life Review)
I have no complaints for the month of October! It gave me so many wonderful dramas from a variety of different genres. Two romantic comedies, two historicals, and a crime drama. It definitely kept things interesting!
For the month of November, I hope to complete Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Goryeo, The K2, and Mary Stayed Out All Night.
So how was October for you?
Happy drama watching to everyone!
