Well, this seemed to come out of nowhere. Apparently, Oh Yeon Seo (Come Back Ahjussi) has been offered the lead role in the drama remake of My Sassy Girl starring Joo Won (Yong Pal). It’s a bit of a surprise though considering after holding open auditions with over 1800 women going for the role, Kim Joo Hyun (Modern Farmer) was ultimately selected to star in the drama.
But news has recently came out that Kim Joo Hyun has stepped down from the role. Some sources are reporting that it was too much pressure for a relatively inexperienced actress to take on such a huge role while others are talking about SBS wanting a bigger star in the role.
I have a hard time believing she would willingly step down from the role considering getting a role of this caliber is probably something she has been working toward for years. It seems much more likely that she was pressured to step down, which really is a shame. Again, this is all speculation though.
But looking at the positive side, I love Oh Yeon Seo to pieces. I think she is a perfect fit for this role and can already picture her being all kinds of fun with Joo Won. So I do really hope she accepts the role.
My Sassy Girl is a sageuk remake of the classic movie of the same name about a quirky, troublemaker princess who gets involved with a city man. It will be completely pre-produced and is looking to air in the beginning of 2017.
