Kang Ha Neul and Hyeri Offered Lead Roles in Korean Drama Picnic

Gaia Korean Drama - Kang Ha Neul

It looks like Kang Ha Neul (Misaeng) has been re-offered the leading role in the new MBC drama Picnic.  The drama was previously titled Gaia and had put a first offer out to Kang Ha Neul to star in it, but he turned it down and most news about the drama dried up. But the drama re-emerged with a new name and another offer out to Kang Ha Neul as well as an offer to Hyeri (Entertainer).

Entertainer Korean Drama - Hyeri

Picnic is a romantic comedy that tells the story of a regular girl and a group of idols who get stranded on an island together after a plane crash.  Kang Ha Neul would play the leader of  a boy band with Hyeri as our average girl.

I’m still hoping this drama gets everything together, because I love the trapped on a deserted island premise as well as the survival aspect. It also looks like it will be a story of growth and learning for our characters.

Picnic is scheduled to premiere in early 2017 on MBC.

Update 11/16/16: Jung Kyung Ho and Baek Jin Hee will be starring, and the drama is now titled Missing 9.
