Yea! It looks like this is really happening! Jun Ji Hyun (My Love from Another Star) and Lee Min Ho (Heirs) have confirmed starring in the new SBS drama Legend of the Blue Sea. Legend of the Blue Sea is a romantic comedy that will be based on the classic Korean folktale, Eou’s Unofficial Histories, about a mermaid. It comes from Park Ji Eun, the writer of My Love from Another Star and Producer.
So I’m pretty excited about this! This is one of those projects that is pretty much guaranteed to be a megahit. These two star actors paired with this writer has already caused the anticipation to be sky high. Apparently, China is also pretty excited with reports stating that the price of purchasing the licensing rights has already broken the record recently set by Descendants of the Sun.
This will likely be Lee Min Ho’s final drama before enlisting in the military, and it looks like a perfect send off. And pairing him with Jun Ji Hyun should make for quite a fun couple. This is going to be big, so prepare to keep hearing a lot about it for the rest of the year!
Legend of the Blue Sea is looking to air in October on SBS.

My laptop is doing a number on me! Hit send before I meant to 😀 Was going to say Wow! Two mega stars. How can it not be a hit especially in China. Let’s hope it’s stellar writing. Hope they don’t simply ride the coattails of these superstars and the tsunami left behind from DotS. 🙂

I know! There are very few pairings that happen with stars that are this huge. Yeah, it’s pretty much guaranteed to be a big hit in China.
Luckily, the writer seems pretty solid. I really liked both My Love from Another Star and Producers. She seems to know how to put together a story well. So hopefully it all comes together in one amazing package, and it may just give DOTS a run for its money 🙂

Is it going to be pre-produced like Dots?

So far I haven’t seen any news sites reporting it will be, but I find that almost unbelievable. Surely they will want to air it simultaneously in China. So it would have to be pre-produced for that. But everything I have read is saying October or November for a premiere. That’s probably not enough time to film and get approval for airing in China. Maybe they’ll decide to push it back?

Yes, seems really rushed and LMH has to enlist pretty soon so not much wiggle room.
