Ji Sung (Kill Me, Heal Me) and Park Bo Gum (Reply 1988) have been offered lead roles in the new drama Entertainer (Ddanddara). Entertainer is about a manager who was once in charge of the top entertainment agency in Korea, but now represents rookies in his own small agency. As a group of rag-tag musicians is assembled, he learns what it really means to be a manager.
The manager role is what has been offered to Ji Sung. Park Go Gum’s role does not have a description, but I would guess he would be one of the rookie musicians being represented by Ji Sung. The drama comes from the writer of Pretty Man and Birdie Buddie.
Well, if these two actually confirm, sign me up! I’ll pretty much watch anything with Ji Sung, and he’s definitely due to select his next drama project. I’ve also taken a liking to Park Bo Gum since his appearance in Tomorrow’s Cantabile and more recently Reply 1988. These two guys could easily deliver powerful, unique, and relatable characters. It’s still early in negotiations though, so I won’t get my hopes up too high.
Entertainer has not secured a network yet, but it is looking to air sometime in the spring.
Update 3/4/16: Park Bo Gum has declined the role in Entertainer and has recently confirmed he will star in the new KBS sageuk Moonlight Drawn By Clouds.
