It looks like we are getting a second season of the crime drama Mrs. Cop, but we will be getting a new star. Kim Sung Ryung (Queen’s Flower) has been confirmed to play our Mrs. Cop. She will play an FBI trained detective named Go Yoon Jung who is brought in to replace the previous Mrs. Cop (played by Kim Hee Ae) and lead the violent crimes unit.
It also looks like almost all of the previous cast will not be returning. The only one who has signed on is Kim Min Jong as the section chief. Sohn Ho Joon, Lee Da Hee, and Lee Ki Kwang have officially declined to take part in the series.
It seems that the production team is looking to keep the same characters but cast new actors to play them. An offer is out to Im Seul Ong (Hogu’s Love) to play the role previously played by Sohn Ho Joon.
I would say it is an odd choice to recast so many characters, and I wonder if this really is the plan. I guess we will see.
Mrs. Cop 2 is scheduled to premiere in March on SBS.
