September brought me more fun dramas. It was the mystery thriller Big Mouth, the time travel romance My Royal Nemesis, and the business body swap Reborn Rookie that kept things interesting. Here’s how they went:
Big Mouth
Big Mouth was a fun drama. The story is fast-paced and filled with suspense all the way through. There are a lot of fun twists and turns along the way too. I enjoyed all of the prison power dynamics, shifting loyalties, and just trying to survive. We have a fantastic cast that delivered great performances.
Something to keep in mind with this drama is that it’s a bit far-fetched and over the top at times. It’s a story to not take too seriously and to just try and roll with some of the logic stretches. If you can do that, it’s a very fun and thrilling ride. Big Mouth was enjoyable all the way through. (Big Mouth Review)
My Royal Nemesis
My Royal Nemesis was a decent watch. It does some good things, and it does some not so good things. It all kind of balances out to an okay drama. Of course, I’m a sucker for time slip dramas. So, I was definitely there for a Joseon villainous being transported to modern Korea with the fun fish-out-of-water shenanigans.
Overall, My Royal Nemesis is a fairly pleasant drama, though it was a bit slow for me, and I found the plot lacking. The chemistry between our main couple was good though a bit circular. The family power struggle story was okay but not plotted the best. You’ll just have to give it a try to see how you fare. (My Royal Nemesis Review)
Reborn Rookie
Reborn Rookie was an interesting and somewhat complicated watch for me as I had very mixed feelings towards it. It’s a body swap drama with the plot centered around a family corporate power struggle. And for the most part, I think it’s a really well done series.
It has a solid story that mixes humor with some fun dramatics that lean soapy at times. There are some interesting character journeys and the exploration of complicated family issues. The pacing for the show was good all the way through with the story feeling fleshed out enough.
The story’s heavy focus on business politics was not to my tastes though as was the exclusion of one half of the body swap. So while it’s not completely my cup of tea, I would say check it out if you like these types of stories. (Full Review Coming Soon)
