Head Over Heels is a supernatural romance about a high school student (Cho Yi Hyun) who lives a double life as a shaman that finds out her first love (Choo Young Woo) could die soon, so she tries to save him.

Cho Yi Hyun plays Park Seong Ah who is a high school student by day and a shaman by night. She keeps her identity hidden from most people. When she falls in love at first sight with a client destined to die, she decides to do everything in her power to protect him.

Choo Young Woo is Bae Gyeon Woo who is the student that Seong Ah falls for. He has lived a life of misfortune and hates all shamans. He is less than thrilled to be involved with another shaman as well as the strange girl who keeps showing up around him as school.

Then we have Cha Kang Yoon as Pyo Ji Ho. He is Seong Ah’s best friend who keeps her secret of being a shaman. He also harbors a one-sided crush for her.

Head Over Heels was a cute and fun supernatural romantic comedy. It only took an episode to settle in for me, and then it was pretty enjoyable. The drama features a lot of supernatural elements with Seong Ah being a shaman and having to help clients, ghosts, and her new love Gyeon Woo.

Seong Ah and Gyeon Woo were a very sweet couple. They start out at odds with Gyeon Woo not being sure why this girl keeps showing up around him and Seong Ah having to keep her shaman identity hidden from him.
Gyeon Woo’s lifetime of misfortune has also caused him to isolate himself and push people away. His story is really quite sad and emotional as he’s dealt with so much loss and sadness.

He really only has his grandma by his side. So, he finds himself very confused about Seong Ah. It takes a while for him to warm up to her, but then we’ve got that pesky shaman secret still lurking in the background.
This couple is quite adorable together when they’re able to express their feelings. They are also very protective of each other, and it was nice to see the lengths that they would go to for each other.

Our main villain of Yeom Hwa (Choo Ja Hyun) was a very difficult character. She is a shaman who has done a great deal of evil in her life, and her latest plans have her pitted against Seong Ah and Gyeon Woo. She does so many truly awful things with no remorse that it was difficult to have any sympathy for her despite some sadness in her back story. I do wish they could have softened her up just a little bit.

The drama has a few interesting twists and turns that add complexity to the romance as well as the story of saving Gyeon Woo. There were some unexpected relationship dynamics that took shape in the latter part of the show. The drama did lose a little steam for me because of this, but the story remained mostly interesting. The last couple of episodes also felt a bit rushed and all over the place.

Overall, Head Over Heels Was a good watch with its mix of romance, humor, and supernatural elements. The pacing was decent as was the story. The romance was very sweet with some nice character journeys. Despite the second half being a bit lackluster, it was still mostly enjoyable.
My Rating: 7/10
