Oh! Youngsim is a romantic comedy about an entertainment PD (Song Ha Yoon) who unexpectedly reunites with someone from her childhood who is now the CEO of a start-up company (Donghae) while filming a dating program.

Song Ha Yoon plays Oh Young Sim who is a struggling entertainment PD.  When she produces a new dating variety show, a man from her childhood who had a crush on her is unexpectedly cast.

Donghae is Wang Kyung Tae who is the CEO of a successful start-up company. When he joins the cast of a dating variety show, he is reunited with Young Sim who he had a one sided crush on when he was a child.

There’s also a sweet second lead, Lee Chae Dong (Lee Min Jae), who works with Young Shim and harbors long time feelings for her.

Well, for me, Oh! Youngsim was about as run-of-the-mill as they come. It has a pretty typical set-up with the childhood love story that went wrong due to misunderstandings followed by a reunion between the duo as adults. These misunderstandings continue in the present day as our couple gets involved in a dating show.

We watch Young Sim and Kyung Tae getting thrown together through various situations involving entertainment programs. They aren’t very good at communicating with each other, and relationship developments are pretty slow. There really isn’t much romance, and it all took way too long to happen.

This drama for me is an example of a show using the basic romantic comedy formula and doing it in a completely average way. I felt pretty meh about both of the leads. The couple is so-s0, and I wasn’t particularly invested in their relationship. The story is basic. The production is basic. Nothing stands out. It’s all pretty forgettable.

There’s really not much to say about a drama like this. Oh! Youngsim is a lighter show that leans fun. If you really have nothing else to watch, it’s a fine enough drama to pass the time, especially since it’s only 10 episodes. Otherwise, this drama just kind of exists, and that’s about it.

My Rating: 5/10

Ooh, this might be one of the most underwhelmed I’ve seen you, in your reviews! I tried out E1 of this, but backed away very fast. I’m impressed that you got to the end, given how you didn’t like it all that much! 😅

Underwhelmed was the definition of my experience with this drama, lol. I can see why you backed away so quickly and am jealous that you escaped! 🤣

I applaud you for getting through it LOL! It was tough to take early on and never improved. The curse of the short kdrama, short enough to push through when they’re bad but when they’re good we want more 😆

Thank you, thank you! 😂 Yes, it was a tough one for sure. It wasn’t like it was horrible, but it was just so bland that I didn’t really like it at all. Definitely the curse of short dramas in causing us to push through! lol

While I enjoyed the show it was definitely missing the energy and passion that takes a show to the next level.

Definitely missing that extra energy and just something to elevate it a bit. I’m glad you still enjoyed it though 🙂
