Lee Do Hyun (18 Again) has been offered a starring role in the new Korean drama Youth of May. Youth of May is about a troublemaker medical student and a hardworking nurse who get caught up in the Gwangju Uprising of 1980.
Lee Do Hyun would play the medical student. Also considering a lead role is Go Min Si (Secret Boutique) who play the nurse.
Youth of May has plans to air in the first half of 2021 on KBS.
I had to google the Gwangju Uprising of 1980, as I was four years old in that year. But wow, that is one heck of a dramatic setting to put a drama in. I read that an estimated 2000 people died during that time. Will be interesting to see where this show is going to take us🤔

A Taxi Driver, an excellent Korean movie, is also set during the same event.

Yes, I too am curious to see where the drama takes us. It was a serious time and could make for a very dramatic backdrop for the story. I haven’t seen the movie A Taxi Driver that Snow Flower mentioned above, but I’ve heard it’s really good, so maybe something we should both check out 🙂

Sandglass, the hit classic from 90s is also set partly in this time period. It’s really good too.
