The Tale of Nokdu Korean Drama - Jang Dong Yoon

I’ve been anxiously awaiting the first trailers for the new Korean historical drama The Tale of Nokdu (or Mung Bean Chronicles) starring Jang Dong Yoon (Just Dance) and Kim So Hyun (Love Alarm), and we finally have them!

Kim So Hyun is looking as cute as can be, and we get to see Jang Dong Yoon fully made up as a woman as he hides among a group of women. Not sure he’s completely convincing as a girl, but how often is the girl actually convincing as a guy in most gender bender dramas? And he sure is pretty! This looks like a lot of fun!

The Tale of Nokdu is about a man (Jang Dong Yoon) who disguises himself as a woman to live among a community of women so that he won’t have to get married and a hot-tempered woman (Kim So Hyun) who is reluctantly training to be a gisaeng.

The Tale of Nokdu is scheduled to premiere September 30 on KBS.

This is the drama that is on my mind. Despite the fact I never watched any historical. Just not sure which one I should start with.

  Oh wow, you’ve never seen a historical? I’m a huge fan of the genre. It is hard to know where to start. I think a drama like this that is a fushion sageuk with modern elements could be a good intro. Or maybe something like Moonlight Drawn By Clouds or Sungkyunkwan Scandal if you want something before then 🙂
