Arthdal Chronicles Korean Drama - Song Joong Ki

Wow! The first trailer is out for the long awaited Korean drama Arthdal Chronicles (or Asadal) starring Song Joong Ki (Descendants of the Sun) and Kim Ji Won (Fight for My Way), and it is something to see!

It looks like a full on epic fantasy with some impressive scenic shots and a story that looks pretty thrilling. We also get a glimpse at all of our main cast with everyone really rocking their costumes. Count me as beyond excited for this one!

Arthdal Chronicles is an epic historical set in ancient times with a story that blends myth and history as a power struggle ensues during the founding of the nation of Gojoseon. It comes from the writers of Six Flying Dragons and Tree With Deep Roots.

Arthdal Chronicles is scheduled to premiere in June on tvN.

Whoa: so true….this really does look quite impressive. You can count another person excited for this one! 😊😊 (and yes I was talking about me being that person 😂)

It really does! This is looking like quite a unique kdrama offering, and the quality just looks amazing. Whew, I was wondering if that other person was you! Thanks for setting me straight 😉

It somehow reminds me of The Legend, hmmm… I had certain issues with both Tree and Dragons but still, this could be interesting. At least it’s a totally different time period from the over used Joseon. 🙂

I had some issues with both of those dramas too. Mostly that there was too much politics. I loved the first half of Six Flying Dragons but thought the second half was just okay because of so much political stuff. But all in all, mostly good for a 50 ep drama. Tree had a couple story lines I liked all the way through, but the immense amount of bad guy scheming wasn’t something I cared for at all.

But this writer creates rich and detailed stories, so I really appreciate that. And like you, I’m thrilled we are getting a time period prior to the Joseon era. So hopefully, there will be enough of the elements I liked from those other dramas to allow me to enjoy this one too 🙂

Too much politicking in a long drama is not something I enjoy either. Especially as it’s always almost the same scenario in sageuks. Yeah, I could have done with far less of the bad guy schemings in Tree as well. I loved almost everything else about it though. So, like you I’m hoping they’ll keep the more interesting elements in Arthadal and cut back all the boring/irritating stuff.

Yep, we definitely think alike when it comes to the politicking in sageuks 🙂 Hopefully, they embrace some of the more unique elements of an ancient fantasy story and make it more fresh. And being pre-produced, I’m hoping its either 16 or 20 eps which would help things a bit too 🙂
