Rookie Historian Goo Hae Ryung Korean Drama - ASTRO's Cha Eun Woo and Shin Se Kyung

ASTRO’s Cha Eun Woo (My ID is Gangnam Beauty) has confirmed he will be joining Shin Se Kyung (Black Knight) in the upcoming Korean historical drama Rookie Historian Goo Hae Ryung. He is set to play a lonely prince. This looks like a promising drama, and I’m interested to see how this pairing works out.

Rookie Historian Goo Hae Ryung is about 19th century women who faced prejudice for being writers of historical records. One historian (Shin Se Kyung) works to establish her place and meets a lonely prince (Cha Eun Woo) who lives a double life as a romance novelist.

Rookie Historian Goo Hae Ryung is planning to air in the summer on MBC.

I like this concept – and while I know that that Shin Se Kyung is not everyone’s cup of tea, I like her. I just think she generally chooses bad dramas which does make me worry about this one . . .

  Well, I’m thrilled to hear you like Shin Se Kyung! I also am very aware how much many people dislike her, but she happens to me one of my favorite actresses. So I love hearing kind words for her 🙂 I’ve been pretty lucky in that I’ve liked most of the dramas I’ve seen her in even though some weren’t the greatest. I really don’t know what to expect with this one, but it definitely sounds promising, so I’m hopeful 🙂

I’m surprised that everyone is hating on the lady and not on the guy… I guess he have a big fanbase cuz he’s not better than the actress. His acting is not natural awkward and I think they cast him because his beautiful face and he’s an idol… But pls don’t hate me he’s a great idol singer etc. but acting is not for him. He seems like a sweet guy I really don’t wanna hurt him but don’t say the actress gonna ruin the drama while both of them is bad… Sorry for my bad eng lmao

  It’s okay, we all have our opinions on different actors and actresses 🙂 It always makes me sad that Shin Se Kyung gets so much hate though. I love her and never really understood why people think she’s bad. I think she’s a great actress. Cha Eun Woo definitely has a big fan base and that always helps for getting cast in dramas. I think he’s still very new to acting and a little green, but I think he has potential. His character was very bland in My ID is Gangnam Beauty, but the moments he was able to be emotional were pretty good. So hopefully, he will continue to grow and maybe do well with a veteran actress like Shin Se Kyung. That’s all we can hope for 🙂
