Yoon Shi Yoon, Han Ye Ri, and Jo Jung Suk to Star in New Korean Historical Drama “Ugeumchi”

Ugeumchi Korean Drama - Yoon Shi Yoon, Jo Jung Suk, Han Ye Ri

Yes! We have Yoon Shi Yoon (Your Honor), Han Ye Ri (Switch: Change the World), and Jo Jung Suk (Two Cops) now confirmed to star in the new historical drama Ugeumchi (or Mung Bean Flower). Now this is a cast! I can’t wait to see how this plays out.

Ugeumchi is set in 1894 during the Battle of Ugeumchi which was a peasant uprising and follows the story of two brothers: one (Yoon Shi Yoon) is born of the father and his wife and the other (Jo Jung Suk) is born of the father and a slave. Han Ye Ri will then play a peddler who runs a shop. The drama comes from the writer of Assembly and Jeong Do Jeon and the PD of Six Flying Dragons.

Ugeumchi is looking to air in the first half of 2019 on SBS.

Hmmmm… this might actually be worth checking out. I like that it’s not about royalty for once.

Agree, it’s always nice to see something that’s a change of pace since most historicals heavily involve royalty. I just watched Rebel last month and even though a portion of the story involves royalty, most of it was set outside the palace with more regular folk as the leads. It was nice 🙂
