The Crowned Clown Korean Drama - Yeo Jin Goo

The premiere for the new tvN drama The Crowned Clown (also known as Gwanghae: The Man Who Became King) starring Yeo Jin Goo (Reunited Worlds) and Lee Se Young (Hwayugi) is fast approaching. And we have a another trailer to get us excited as we see Yeo Jin Goo as the unhinged king as well as the timid clown. It’s pretty dramatic with intrigue and plenty of tension. I’m so glad this drama is almost here!

The Crowned Clown follows the story of a king (Yeo Jin Goo) who fears for his life so he brings in a kind look-a-like clown to stand in for him. A love triangle will also ensue between the two and the queen (Lee Se Young).

The Crowned Clown is scheduled to premiere January 7, 2019 on tvN.

Is it just me or the plot seems kinda related to the drama Master of the mask? I’m not quite sure. Correct me if I’m wrong.

Haha, it’s not just you 🙂 When I first heard of it, it reminded me of Master of the Mask because of the king and peasant switching places. I think the circumstances surrounding the switches are pretty different though. And it looks like the dynamic is different with the king being not as nice as the peasant being the good one. Maybe a stronger love triangle too? I’m very interested to see how it plays out 🙂

I guess this is the effect when you have watched numerous Kdrama over the years and everything seems to blend in with each other.

Ahhhh thank you for pointing out the difference. I for one am a sucker for love triangles and have the slightest tendency to root for the second lead. Haha

Oooh, you like love triangles?! Yay! A lot of people really dislike love triangles, so it excites me to see someone else enjoy them. I also love a good love triangle. I actually don’t think many dramas are even true love triangles since it’s so obvious who will get the girl. But I sure do get excited at that rare drama that has a genuine triangle where you actually wonder all the way through, hehe. And I know what you mean, it’s hard not to root for those oh-so-sweet second leads sometimes 🙂

I’m kinda glad that I haven’t met a person who isn’t a big fan with love triangles. Haha But it’s okay everyone has their own preference. But I’m glad that we have the same taste when it comes to this aspect.

I kinda like dramas that with love triangles. The push and pull between characters is sooo interesting. And it actually adds flavour to the drama. For me if the love triangle works it means the actors/ actresses are very effective.

And you’re right. It’s kinda obvious who gets the girl (typically the bigger star haha) butttttt those second leads who shine through eventually gets a big break. To name a few Seo Kang Joon in cheese in a trap. Park Hae Jin in while you were sleeping.

Have you seen mama and the woodcutter? It initially started off as a love triangle but the ending totally caught me off guard.

Haha, well there are a lot of them. But yes, it’s just a matter of preference and luckily, there are quite a lot of dramas out there for different people to enjoy 🙂

And that’s why I like love triangles too. Love that push and pull and wondering who ends up with who. I only watched the first ep of Mama Fairy. Wasn’t really feeling it at the time so I put it on hold. Didn’t watch enough to officially drop it yet, so I hope to check it back out eventually. The love triangle was a component that really interested me about it.

Ohhh so you haven’t finished it yet. The effects kinda put me off abit but I somehow succeeded finishing it. But the ending kinda left me disappointed.

The story got lost somewhere in the middle so it’s okay if you don’t finish watching it.

I’ve read some reviews after watching mama fairy and I do agree with most of them.

I hope 2019 would offer more great dramas with interesting love triangles. 😊

I really got lost. That’s how sum of the drama.

That’s kinda the impression I got from reading some comments about it, so I figured I just wouldn’t be in rush to finish it, though did want to keep open the possibility of watching it another today 🙂 And yes, here’s hoping we get some good love triangles in 2019! 🙂

Good luck with that possibility. I hope you see it in another perspective. Enjoy 😊
