Joo Ji Hoon and Bae Doo Na Offered Lead Roles in Korean Zombie Sageuk Drama Kingdom

Kingdom Korean Drama - Joo Ji Hoon and Bae Doo Na

Well, it looks like Song Joong Ki ended up turning down the starring role in the new drama Kingdom coming from hit writer Kim Eun Hee of Signal and Ghost. Kingdom is a zombie sageuk about a crown prince in the Joseon era who discovers a terrible zombie epidemic in the kingdom. The 8 episode drama will be a big budget Netflix original directed by the PD of the movie Tunnel.

Offers are now out to Joo Ji Hoon (Asura) and Bae Doo Na (Secret Forest) to star. Joo Ji Hoon would play our zombie fighting crown prince while Bae Doo Na’s role has not been specified. Another offer is out to Ryu Seung Ryong (Dorihwago) to join the group.

I’m definitely bummed that Song Joong Ki is no longer in the running, but I’m still very excited to see a new drama from this writer as well as the fact that it’s about Joseon zombies.

Kingdom is looking to air sometime in 2018 on Netflix.

Looking forward to this, and since it gets a Netflix release that probably means I will be able to see it : woohoo! 😀
