We have our next star to add to the cast of upcoming drama Mr. Sunshine. This time it is Yoo Yeon Seok (Romantic Doctor Teacher Kim) who will be joining stars Lee Byung Hun (Iris) and Kim Tae Ri (The Handmaiden).
Yoo Yeon Seok will be our tragic second lead who falls hard for Kim Tae Ri. He is of low birth and seeks out a better life in Japan. This should put him at odds with our righteous army. I guess it also makes it likely that we won’t get as much bromance in Mr. Sunshine as we have in the last couple dramas from Kim Eun Sook. But hopefully, that means we will get a good antagonistic relationship as well as a juicy love triangle.
Mr. Sunshine comes from writer Kim Eun Sook of hits such as Goblin and Descendants of the Sun. It is set during the early 1900’s and is about the romance of a soldier (Lee Byung Hun) of the righteous army and an aristocrat’s daughter (Kim Tae Ri). It follows the story of the soldier who got on a U.S. military expedition as a child and grew up in America. As an adult, he then returns to Korea as a soldier during the final years of the Joseon era.
Mr. Sunshine is looking to air in early 2018.
