Bride of the Water God 2017 Korean Drama - Nam Joo Hyuk and Shin Se Kyung

In the latest teaser trailer for the upcoming tvN drama Bride of the Water God 2017 starring Nam Joo Hyuk (Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo) and Shin Se Kyung (Six Flying Dragons), our Water God seems to have met his match when dealing with…a bidet!

He tries to use his water powers against it to no avail which is quite humorous. But his lovely bride is there to help with a dry towel and a look of love. Very cute 🙂

Bride of the Water God 2017 is loosely based off of the popular manhwa about a village suffering from drought that offers young women as sacrifices to a water god. One of the sacrifices eventually becomes his bride.

The drama version moves the setting into modern day Seoul with Nam Joo Hyuk as the Water God and Shin Se Kyung as a neuropsychiatrist whose family has served him for generations. The writer penned Misaeng and Arang and the Magistrate while the PD did Nine: Nine Time Travels and Queen In Hyun’s Man.

Bride of the Water is scheduled to premiere July 3 on tvN.

Okay I have to admit that was a funny scene. But honestly don’t think that this show will be my cup of a tea, even though there are some supernatural elements in it as well. I think I will probably watch the pilot first and after that decide if it’s worth to continue with it 😊

Yes, definitely give the first episode a go if it is available to you. My guess is that the trailers are overselling the comedic aspects a bit, especially considering we still haven’t seen any actual footage from the drama. Of course, I’m sure there will be plenty of humor, but this writer does really well at world building and crafting interesting stories and characters that can get pretty dramatic. So I’m hopeful for maybe a lighter version of Goblin 🙂
