BTS - Rap Monster, V, Jin, Jimin, Jungkook, Suga, J-hope 2017 Billboard Music Awards: Top Social Artist - Kpop

I just had to take time to draw attention to this wonderful achievement of BTS. BTS became the first K-pop group to win at the Billboard Music Awards on May 21, 2017 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. They were nominated for the Top Social Artist category against Justin Beiber, Selena Gomez, Ariana Grande, and Shawn Mendes. Fans from around the world cast their votes for the winner, and BTS won by a landslide with over 300 million votes! K-pop fans know how to get things done!

The BBMAs twitter feed was also dominated by talk of BTS before, during, and after the show. It was such a fun event to take part in, and the excitement was through the roof! The boys seemed so excited to be there and looked like they had a wonderful time. It was great to see how many people knew who they were and many were even fans of them.

A big heartfelt congratulations to BTS for all of their hard work and the immense success it has brought them both in Korea and internationally.

And this victory is something that should be celebrated not only by BTS fans but by all K-pop fans. K-pop continues to spread across the globe, and millions more people were introduced to it because of these awards. K-pop fans should take pride in this achievement and continue to show their love and support for the amazing and talented individuals who bring us such wonderful music.

Im just grateful for Rap Mon’s ability to speak English in all this. It really helped them out I think. He worked really extra hard. haha
Did you get a chance to see any of the interviews?

Did I see any of the interviews…umm, like all of them! lol I generally don’t get into award shows, especially western ones, but I watched everything about the BBMA’s with BTS. I think I’ve watched all of their magenta carpet interviews and behind the scenes stuff. I followed the whole event live on twitter and it was a lot of fun 🙂 Today I’ve been going through and watching their post awards interviews. There’s so much good stuff to see!

And yes, I was so impressed with Rap Monster! I watched a lot of their interviews during their US tour where Rap Monster also took the lead. He did work so hard having to field all of the questions and do a bit of translating for the other boys. He did so good and looked really comfortable and confident. And I liked seeing the other guys chime in when they could. There was some truly funny moments, and it was just an all around good time 🙂 Did you get to watch some of it?

I’m so happy for BTS. They deserved this after all their hard work. And watching it all unfold through my twitter feed was such a joy. I’m proud as always to be a Kpop fan and wish BTS all the best in their future endeavours.

I am too! Wasn’t it so much fun to take part in? Twitter was an exciting place to be that night, and it was so wonderful to see everyone come together to express their joy and support. And I completely agree, they deserved this so much, and I’m excited to see what they will do in the future. It’s a great time to be a Kpop fan 🙂

I rarely watch any of the award shows, but I watched the Billboard awards just for them. I am glad they are getting more acknowledgement. However, I heard that in Korea, they were hardly even mention on any of the news media channels.

Same. I’m not usually into award shows, but I was all over the Billboard Awards because of BTS. And it was such a fun experience! But yeah, I saw that the have received very little coverage in Korea. That’s crazy considering it’s such a big achievement. Everyone has lots of theories as to why (like them being from a smaller agency), but who knows. But luckily, I think most are pretty aware of their recent success, and I look forward to seeing them do even more 🙂

I heard they did the same thing to Psy. I’ve heard that in South Korea they are very country oriented with staying close to home. They need to make money though and the west has that.

That is a shame. But I do think with Kpop growing more and more, they will probably have to start covering some of these successes. The stories will just be too big to pass up 🙂
