We had a couple new premieres this week which changed things up a bit in Nielsen drama ratings. There’s also a change in how the episodes and ratings are being presented. Apparently, the three major networks are now having a commercial break in the middle of the hour long episodes.
But rather than just keep it as one episode, they are now dividing up the two parts into two half hour episodes each night. And each episode gets its own ratings number. This also increases the overall episode count. I find this needlessly complicated, but it still amounts to the same amount of drama time. But now there are more ratings numbers to share!
I’ve also changed up my format of listing the ratings to make them more readable with the increased numbers available.
So with the new episode count in place, Ruler: Master of the Mask aired four half hour episodes. It had a solid opening and took first place with all of its episodes while seeing a nice increase.
Ep. 1 – 9.7%
Ep. 2 – 11.6%
Ep. 3 – 10.5%
Ep. 4 – 12.6%
Mystery Queen is still using the previous format and aired its usual two episodes. It found itself in second place.
Ep. 11 – 8.7%
Ep. 12 – 9.2%
Suspicious Partner was our other new premiere. It had a decent start and climbed higher on the second night.
Ep. 1 – 6.3%
Ep. 2 – 6.8%
Ep. 3 – 6.1%
Ep. 4 – 7.2%
Well, the dramas ended up about where I expected them too. Ruler: Master of the Mask has the potential to do very well. And Suspicious Partner has a solid start to work with in the coming weeks. Mystery Queen only has a couple of weeks left in its run, so we will have to see if it can take back its top spot.
Suspicious Partner airs Wednesday and Thursday on SBS.
Ruler: Master of the Mask airs Wednesday and Thursday on MBC.
Mystery Queen airs Wednesday and Thursday on KBS.
