Im Joo Hwan (Uncontrollably Fond) has now been offered a role in the upcoming tvN drama Bride of the Water God 2017 starring Nam Joo Hyuk (Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo) and Shin Se Kyung (Six Flying Dragons). Im Joo Hwan would play the CEO of a resort who is a romantic rival for the Water God.

While it’s disappointing to see Im Joo Hwan continuously in second lead roles, I know he would bring a lot to this character with his talent. So I’m hoping he signs on and joins this already fantastic cast.

Bride of the Water God 2017 is loosely based off of the popular manhwa about a village suffering from drought that offers young women as sacrifices to a water god. One of the sacrifices eventually becomes his bride.

The drama version moves the setting into modern day Seoul while keeping the original characters from the story. The writer penned Misaeng and Arang and the Magistrate while the PD did Nine: Nine Time Travels and Queen In Hyun’s Man.

Bride of the Water God 2017 is looking to air in the second half of 2017 on tvN.
