Criminal Minds Korean Drama - Moon Chae Won

It looks like Moon Chae Won (Goodbye Mr. Black) has been offered a lead role in the upcoming tvN drama Bride of the Water God 2017. Based off of the popular manhwa, the story was about a village suffering from drought that offers young women as sacrifices to a water god. One of the sacrifices eventually becomes his bride.

The drama version moves the setting into modern day Seoul while keeping the original characters from the story. The writer penned Misaeng and Arang and the Magistrate while the PD did Nine: Nine Time Travels and Queen In Hyun’s Man.

Bride of the Water God 2017 Korean Drama - Nam Joo Hyuk

Moon Chae Won would play neuropsychiatrist running her own office that is struggling to pay off the massive debt incurred by her father and school. An offer is still out to Nam Joo Hyuk (Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo) as the Water God.

I do find this to be a potentially odd pairing. I like both actors but can’t quite see them together. But since I do like them both, I would probably enjoy them in a nice fantasy story such as this. I guess we will just keep waiting to see if they sign on.

Bride of the Water God 2017 is looking to air in the second half of 2017 on tvN.

I liked her a lot in Goodbye mr Black, but found her role better in The innocent man (there was more chemistry there). Let’s see how this one will turn out, it could go either way I guess 😊

I liked her in both series too, but I agree, she was better in Innocent Man. I think the role suited her better, and yes, she had great chemistry with Song Joong Ki. She’s a good actress, so I know she’ll do fine with whatever she does. I still have a hard time picturing this couple together, but everything else about the drama seems pretty solid, so still hoping for the best 🙂

Good writer and PD, that raises my interest. I have no opinion on the actors. After finishing Goblin which had a bride for a god in that series, I’m not sure I want to dip into that particular storyline again this year.

Everything around this production does look really solid. I’ve been anticipating this drama, so I will definitely be checking it out. Also, after how beautifully Goblin was done and considering Bride of the Water God is also on tvN, I think I’ll look forward to revisiting a similar concept. I’m sure it will be very different though, plus it won’t come out until later in the year, so that gives us some distance between the two dramas 🙂
