Woo hoo! Ji Sung (Entertainer) has been confirmed to be starring in the new SBS thriller Defendant along with Yuri (Neighborhood Hero). Defendant is about a top prosecutor who one day wakes up in prison on death row with no memory of how he ended up there. The drama then follows his attempt to figure out what happened and get out of prison. The drama comes from one of the writers of City Hunter.
Ji Sung will play our amnesiac prosecutor who finds himself charged with the murder of his family. Yuri will play a sincere public defender who fights hard in the courtroom, but always seems to end up losing. She ends up at odds with our star prosecutor. But in his time of need, she’ll be the one he needs to come to his rescue.
The moment Ji Sung’s name was mentioned with this project, I was hoping he would take it. This sounds like a meaty role that should really showcase his fantastic acting abilities.
Han Ye Seul was initially offered the role of the public defender, and I was really hoping she would accept. I’m disappointed she didn’t, but I’m okay with Yuri in the role and am optimistic for the drama as a whole. It sounds like it should be an intense and thrilling ride!
Defendant is scheduled to premiere in January 2017 on SBS.
