Both Moonlight and Scarlet Heart are really good shows, but Moonlight lost a little steam for me this week, while Scarlet Heart just keeps getting better every episode. The only thing I find frustrating about Scarlet Heart is that it is airing different versions in Korea and internationally. As I was watching episode 8, I felt that something important that I wanted to see happened off screen. Then I read a recap of the Korean version and discovered that the scene I was missing was included in the Korean version. It was an even more important scene than I realized. What are they thinking? Even with the weird editing choices, Scarlet Heart is doing much better internationally than in Korea. Go figure.

Yeah, I really dislike that they are airing differently edited versions. It seems that after a completed show is licensed, international companies just use the initial version rather than trying to acquire any other versions. I guess it’s not a common problem, but it certainly could be at times. I know Entertainer went in and re-edited it’s first couple episodes, but most international fans didn’t have access to those (although in that particular case, I saw the additional scenes later on and the re-edit was minor and completely unnecessary).

I’m just glad Scarlet Heart is getting some recognition. I’ll be posting about it’s success tomorrow 🙂

Did you see that DramaFever is working on acquiring the rights to the re-edited episodes? So hopefully soon you’ll have easy access to those missing scenes 🙂

I’m relieved the ratings finally increased for episode 8 of Scarlet Heart, but my heart really goes out to Jun Ki (no pun intended). I feel like he can’t catch a break in terms of domestic ratings. First Scholar and now this… Thankfully it’s reached 1billion views on youku!

The competition is pretty stiff as well. I can totally see why Moonlight is doing well. It’s a lot cleaner and organized and I really am enjoying that drama too. I wish they had edited Scarlet Heart more properly because it really has some great plot components and gravity to it. They also should have trimmed it down to one episode for both korean viewers and international viewers because these discrepancies between versions is driving me nuts. I’m always trying to find the extra scenes online and it’s frustrating.

I know! He always puts on such amazing performances and I’ve personally really enjoyed his last few dramas, but they just don’t seem to catch on as much in Korea. I’m so glad Scarlet Heart is doing so well in China though! We’ll take the recognition where we can get it 🙂

DramaFever is working right now on acquiring the rights to the re-edited episodes that have been aired in Korea. So those missing scenes should soon be available much more easily 🙂

I really enjoyed them too! Especially Scholar. That drama has a special place in my heart despite its lack of domestic viewer support. Indeed! Thank god for China! I’m really glad he’s noticing their support too. I think he’s really grateful that at least some people are appreciating this drama. Oh really? That’s great then! I had no idea, but I’m glad DramaFever is doing that because I want to make sure I see all the scenes.

Yes, Scholar was really wonderful. Luckily, lots of people are appreciating Scarlet Heart, and I’m glad Lee Joon Gi thanked everyone too. Hopefully, DramaFever can get the re-edited eps soon 🙂
