Hwang Jung Eum Offered Lead Role in Korean Drama Lucky Romance

Hwang Jung Eum (She Was Pretty) has been offered the lead role in the new MBC drama Lucky Romance. Lucky Romance is based on a webtoon about a quirky, superstitious girl who is obsessed with making sure she is lucky in life. Then a fortune teller tells her she needs to sleep with a man with the tiger zodiac sign in order to ward off death. That man ends up being her landlord who is her complete opposite. He’s a stingy, penny-pincher and will do whatever he can to save money. Of course, the two don’t get along at all, which sets up the already comical scenario.

Yep, I can picture Hwang Jung Eum in this role perfectly. I’m one of those people that absolutely adores her exaggerated comedy style, and this role would be a perfect match for that. I hope she accepts!

Lucky Romance is scheduled to premiere in May on MBC.

The character sounds almost like the one she plays in She was Pretty. Surprised she would take on a role so similar to her last project. Guess it doesn’t hurt since it was wildly successful though I prefer to see her in something with a wider acting range.

  It does sound really similar. That’s the main reason I wonder whether she will take it or not. I love Hwang Jung Eum in any kind of role, but since she is one of my favorite comedic actresses, I would prefer her to take another rom-com like this. Of course, I would like it to have a nice mix of some melo too, like Kill Me Heal Me. But I’ll definitely check out whatever project she chooses 🙂

  I can’t wait to see Hwang Jung Eum in this too! She’s one of my top favorite actresses, and I have loved everything she has been in. I’ll be waiting to see who her leading man is. There are a few talented guys who aren’t busy right now, so we’ll just have to see 🙂
