Great news! It looks like Jang Geun Suk (Pretty Man), Yeo Gin Goo (Orange Marmalade), and Im Ji Yeon (High Society) have confirmed they will be headlining the new SBS sageuk Daebak (also known as Jackpot). It was only announced a few days ago that the actors were considering roles in the drama, so it is a nice surprise to get confirmation from all involved so quickly. And I am officially excited!
I’m ready for Jang Geun Suk’s return to dramaland, and this role sounds perfect for him. Jang Geun Suk will play the role of a peasant prince with a knack for cards who’s seeking to regain his rightful place on the throne.
Yeo Jin Goo will play the role of King Young Jo who seems to be our antagonist and is described as competitive and vicious. Im Ji Yeon’s character is said to be seeking revenge and wanting to kill the King.
We also have offers out to Yoon Jin Seo (Girl Who Sees Smells) to play a concubine to King Suk Jong and Choi Jung Yoon (Could We Love) as a woman who lives in poverty.
Daebak is scheduled to premiere in March on SBS.
Daebak tells the story of a prince who is forced to live his life as a commoner, but becomes super skilled at a popular card game. He then goes head to head with the King in an ultimate bet to reclaim his throne.
