Lee Joon Gi has been offered the lead role in the new saguek drama Moon Lovers. Moon Lovers is a remake of the popular Chinese drama Scarlet Heart (Bu Bu Jin Xin). Moon Lovers tells the story of a modern day woman who travels back in time to the Goryeo era and gets romantically involved with several princes. Lee Joon Gi would play the 4th prince, Gwang Jong (born Wang So), whose character is cold and calculating.
Well, I certainly didn’t expect this news! Like many others, I would really love to see Lee Joon Gi take on a modern rom/com sometime soon, but as always, I am thrilled to see him in any drama. And of course he plays sageuks so well. This would also be the first time he is playing royalty. Needless to say, I am super excited!
Moon Lovers will premiere early in 2016.

I’m always happy to see him in a drama but I really want him to star in a modern setting…

I know! I want a chance to see more of the charming and fun Lee Joon Gi. He’s so good in comedies. But I enjoy anything he does and really hope he takes the role. I’m interested especially because it’s supposed to be set during the Goryeo period. Although I know people will compare it with the original, I think it will be a high quality production and hopefully fans can enjoy it as it’s own unique drama 🙂
