Protect the Boss Korean Drama - Ji Sung and Choi Kang Hee

Protect the Boss is a romantic comedy about a woman named No Eun Seol (Choi Kang Hee) who finally gets a job as a secretary after a lot of rejections. It turns out her boss, Cha Ji Heon (Ji Sung), is someone she had an unfavorable run in with at a club.  On top of that, he is immature and very high maintenance.  If things couldn’t get anymore complicated, it doesn’t take long before he falls head over heels for her.

Protect the Boss was a really cute drama.  No Eun Seol and Cha Ji Heon were a fun couple.  Ji Heon was quirky, obsessive, and demanding, yet he still came off as charmingly adorable.  I didn’t love No Eun Seol’s character, but her interactions with Ji Heon were always fun to watch.

The second leads in this drama were also a lot of fun.  Cha Moo Won (Kim Jae Joong) also developed feelings for No Eun Seol very quickly.  This actually made for a very fun and interesting competition between him and Ji Heon.  Their bickering was hilarious.  I also really enjoyed the second female lead, Seo Na Yoon (Wang Ji Hye).  She starts out as a typical troublemaking second lead, but her character slowly matures.  By the halfway point in the drama, Na Yoon was actually my favorite character.  I felt bad for this spoiled rich girl and really enjoyed watching her transformation.  Not to mention she was also hilarious.

This drama was funny throughout, but a little slow at times, especially towards the latter third.  Luckily, all four of the leads were a pleasure to watch, which is what made up for a bit of a slow pace in the end.  But overall it was enjoyable and had a lot going for it, so I would definitely say check it out, especially if you are a fan of Ji Sung.

My Rating: 6.5/10

  1. […] This romantic comedy was cute, but wasn’t super memorable.  I watched it for Ji Sung, and he definitely delivered.  I really didn’t care for No Eun Sol, but she was cute with Ji Heon.  The latter third of this drama really dragged as the plot seemed to go nowhere.  The saving grace during this period was the second female lead, Na Yoon.  She was hilarious.  Overall, it was cute, but not very memorable.
