To kick off the new year, I got in the wintery slice-of-life drama I’ll Go to You When the Weather is Nice and the dark dystopian drama The Devil Judge. Here’s how they went:
I’ll Go to You When the Weather is Nice

I started I’ll Go to You When the Weather is Nice on a whim when I was in the mood for a heavily winter focused drama, and it definitely checks that box with lots of winter scenery with stark, barren landscapes, snow, big coats, and cozy, warm indoor scenes. It’s a very slice of life with a somber, moody tone that leans depressing but is wrapped in a coat of healing. It had a very slow pace and certainly took its time to get going.
Because it’s not a style I generally gravitate towards, there are things that are inherent towards dramas like this used that can be a bit of a negative for me. The slow pacing with the more somber and depressing tone definitely impacted my overall enjoyment of the drama.
There is healing in the midst of the depression, but the drama feels very heavy in a very realistic way. But I really enjoyed the portrayal of the slow-burn romance, the handling of the characters backstories, and the variety of relationships addressed. If you like these types of dramas, I would definitely recommend this one. (I’ll Go to You When the Weather is Nice Review)
The Devil Judge

Wow! The Devil Judge is an excellent drama in every way. It has a tightly written story that’s packed with twists and turns. There are consistent plot developments all the way through with great pacing. There’s never a dull moment.
The overall production is slick and creates the perfect atmosphere for the dystopian setting. Ji Sung was absolutely incredible and delivered a powerful performance filled with intensity and raw emotion. Wonderful performances all around from this incredible veteran cast too.
Overall, the drama was exceptional. It delivers a unique story in a unique setting with complex characters and hard-hitting questions. The excellent production creates a disturbing world that pulls you in. The Devil Judge is engaging and suspenseful all the way through. It’s truly a fantastic show. (The Devil Judge Review)
