Lee Joon Gi news!! Lee Joon Gi (Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Goryeo) and Kim Ah Joong (Wanted) have been offered lead roles in the Korean remake of the American TV show Criminal Minds. Criminal Minds is a crime drama about a team of FBI profilers.
Well, let’s get this out of the way first. No matter what drama Lee Joon Gi does, I will watch it, and he will be amazing. But I am a bit conflicted with this offer. On the one hand, I have really been wanting him to to do a modern drama, and I can totally see Lee Joon Gi as a slick agent getting to use some of his action skills.
I do have a few concerns though. Kim Ah Joong did not impress me in her recent drama Wanted. She was so bland that I just have a hard time even picturing her next to someone like Lee Joon Gi.
Remakes have also had a bad track record in Korea recently. And I really want Lee Joon Gi to have a successful drama in his own country. Criminal Minds is also more procedural whereas I prefer serialized shows. Hopefully, the remake would add in a nice overarching story to really make things exciting.
As with all crime dramas, it really comes down to the execution. If the writing and production are good, it could be a thrilling drama. So while I have reservations and would still prefer to see Lee Joon Gi do a romantic comedy, of course I would be completely on board and excited if he signs on. I will be anxiously awaiting more news on this one.
Criminal Minds is looking to air later in 2017 on KBS.
